What's the latest Atari related thing(s) you've bought on ebay?

Just got my 1050 drive in the mail for my Atari 800. Still in the original box and it was a very nice box, until the guy mailed it. He didn't box it up or wrap it or anything, just stuck big mailing labels all over it and ruined it. Maybe I can get them off with the hair dryer trick. He also listed it as like new never used everything included. Turns out it was not only used but the cables and OS disk are missing and the manual has someone's name written on it. Times like these that I really hate buying stuff online. Oh well, at least the drive itself is in great condition. Just need to order the cables and stuff now even though I thought I already bought them with it. I just hope it actually works.

Please post the seller's info so that we can avoid them and no-one else gets abused by that seller. Does the drive work? Did they at least give you a partial refund?

I loved the Wico joystick I had back in the day. It was so solid and felt like the contacts inside were metal instead of plastic on the Atari controllers. I am tempted to buy one of those "new" Wico joysticks but at $54.99 plus shipping of $10 seems like a high price.

I lucked out! I found a seller who was selling them for $54.99 and only $7 shipping! :?

It sounds like a lot, except I've bought 2 that looked okay in the pictures but do not work very well. One, the button is intermittent. I opened it and the leaf springs are hitting. I think it might be a wiring short.

I'll have to google around to see if I can find replacement wiring harnesses. Or maybe I can take the two that I have and cobble together one that works well.

Funny. Initially, I only saw the first sentence and thought you got a smoking deal. :). But hey, $3 is $3. Good luck with this one. Please let us know how it goes and if you felt it was worth it. Too bad on the duds.

My SIO cable came in today. I'm happy to say that the drive works perfectly and again it is in great condition so the missing cable was really the only downside for me. I got a practically new cable for just $5 so it wasn't that big a deal really. It doesn't look like he or she even sells Atari stuff or any electronics usually, just knick-knacks, clothes and things like that. They were also really friendly so I believe it was just an honest mistake, not having experience selling this type of item. I let them know that many collectors want the box in unblemished condition. Anyway in the end I'm very happy with my drive now and I think I got a really great deal on it. :)

Just made this purchase from eBay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/132186227087?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

I plan on gutting it and using it for a Hard Drive Tower with at least 2 Adaptec 4070s (possibly 3), 2 Full Height 200+ MB ea. RLL Hard Drives and at least 1 more 65 MB half height RLL Hard Drive.

Looks to be optimal for full or Half height drives. I will probably need to use 1 bay for the Adaptecs, unless there is room in the top part. Doubtful, since the power supply has to be somewhere.

I am currently using an old PC for the drives and the way they are mounted always bothered me.

I bought an Atari 800xl with a 1050 drive. The drive did not have a power supply, so I bought one of those.

Who got the 130XE with the non-working A key for $51? Whoever you are, you're welcome. (I stopped bidding after $50 because I didn't want to run the price up...)

The new one I bought is REALLY stiff. I thought it would loosen up, but now I'm wondering if the rubber grommet has just gotten hard over time.

WOW!!!

Do you think you will be able to get it working?

I'm pretty sure. I've got lots of parts and some donor 400's here and often these things work but the seller can't get it hooked up right. It's got plastic lid tabs in the picture so it probably has encased RAM and ROM.

$42+ to ship, wow. He made up the price in that.

You'd be surprised, USPS Priority Mail for larger/heavier packages is not cheap. An XEGS+XF551+accessories, disks, carts, power supplies, etc. was like $56 to ship. 1200XL by itself with no PSU was $35, same for a 400 - no power supplies on either.

*edit: I see that ebay listing was for economy shipping - that does seem steep!

Any chance you have a stock 400 membrane keyboard you don't need? I picked up a 400 this week but it came with an aftermarket keyboard - looking to make it stock for nostalgia since the first Atari I used was a 400, terrible keyboard and all.

Not at the moment, but I'll let you know if I end up scrapping one.
