What's the latest Atari related thing(s) you've bought on ebay?

Recommended Posts

Here's my latest purchase, already installed too, RGB LED back lighting w/remote. I'm using a PSU for demonstration in the video, but It is now drawing the +5V needed from the 1200XL itself. Installation, as I have it, required extensive hacking to the top case to install lighting around the keyboard. In the back half it is just installed to the inside ceiling of the case around the perimeter. I also had to do splicing to the LED strips themselves for a good fit. I only used half of them. I'm going to install the rest in my 1050, though they will be hard-wired without a remote, I'll have a dip-switch instead, to choose between multiple colors.

Be very careful with the paint and how it's chemistry reacts with things... :)

I've seen reflective plastic sheeting placed in keyboards and lighted remotes, what they do to reflect their light is usually bright glossy white shiny or silvery mirror like finishes on those sheets.

Holes punched where keys go and a further diagonal slit going to 4 corners at each when it goes on the the columns/stalks/poles do no touch at all and the plastic angles up slightly at the base giving excellent results.

Not A8 but....still very nice.

Got the machine and keyboard from Fred M a while ago in return for some soldering work :):)

Few days ago I found a nice SM-146 in Germany.

Everything retrobrighted and looking tight !!!

Still some things to do....replace fan, replace LEDs etc.

I have ordered a composite cable for my Atari 130XE and 800XL(800XL is the best looking computer they made and feels more like one than Jacks c64 gray Atari XE line)and one for my Atart ST 520FM.(I hope that still works but don't see why,had it in storage for more then 10 years, just need a Gotek drive for it now, don't know where to get one at the moment, need to get one on the cheap.)

yes, they are very nice looking and running machines. I owned one for a few years about a decade ago, though mine did not have the original keyboard so I hacked a 520ST keyboard (sill in the 520ST case with working 520ST) with the proper cord to plug into the Mega/STE. It worked great. I could switch between either computer, the 520ST for older program compatiblity and the Mega/STE to run all the polygon games at 16Mhz.

I remember a mate using Cuebase on a Atari 520 ST to make a song on it,he was a rapper.but he never released it.He gave me a copy of it on cassette, yep along to ago, well it was the 90s.

I remember seen a music video of the Pet Shop Boys or Erasure and you could see them using a Atari 1040 ST to make there music.

A bunch of joysticks.

Mainly got it for the Slik Stik as I already have an Epyx 500, but with a frayed label (while the stick seems to be robust with microswitches, the decal ist just an adhesive). Maybe it's just the perspective but the Wico looks even larger than The Bat I already have.

Nothing too exciting, alas.

Today I received a vintage IBM PS/2 keyboard for use with my 1088XEL, once my build is complete. And yesterday I ordered 2x5 IDC box connectors, 10 pin ribbon cable, and crimp-style DB9 male connectors to make joystick cables and jacks.

Oh, and I also made my first-ever purchase from AliExpress of a Realan H80 mini-ITX PC case to house the 1088XEL when I'm done building it.

So, not "Atari" per se but sort of. :)

An "Ultra Pong Doubles by ATARI" from…1977 ! I wasn't alone on this auction....

And it works perfectly on a modern TV (@60Hz for the channel) , fortunately in 1977 « planned obsolescence » wasn’t a fashion word ! 😎
The colors are a bit psychedelic…but it’s by design8.gif

A couple of years ago I bought one of those, too. Mainly because it was cheap like yours. Still wonder what to use it for as my TT has one installed anyway and I don't have spares for the rest of the case ;)

Finally snagged a copy of Oil's Well (with a very nice, minty label) for my collection in a small lot of 8-bit carts.

Dig Dug turned out to be the 1983 (small sprites, better gameplay) version. Happy accident since the one I have is 1982.

The others are duplicates to me... if anyone's interested in Donkey Kong Jr, Joust or Pitfall II, shoot me a PM.

Funny because the one that I've always had was the 1983 version and I had to jump through a couple of hoops to finally get my hands on a cart of the 1982 one.

I've got a physical cart in the other room but can't remember off-hand which one I've got. So remind me - which one has the better/textured playfield and multicolor sprites, but at the expense of gameplay? The 1982 version? 'Cause I'm pretty sure that's the version I had as a kid.

Confusingly, all Dig Dug cartridges are numbered RX8026 regardless of version. Silver labeled cartridges are always the 1983 version. However, the brown labeled ones are all copyrighted 1982 but can have either the 1982 or 1983 ROM inside; the only way to tell which one that you have is to play it.

Also, the 1982 PROTOTYPE was very widely passed around (pirated) in the 1980s; it is the version that I grew up playing and the only one that I knew for years. It is very similar to the released 1982 version except for a different title screen and a very noticeable pause when you die between when Dig Dug is touched by a monster and when the "death" animation actually begins.
