Intellivision Rocks Review

Recommended Posts

I received a free copy of Intellivision Rocks in the mail today. I didn't even request it. I guess I should review it since I'm sure it was sent to me based on my E3 press credentials. So here we go... off the cuff.

-----------------------

This is the second CD from Intellivision Productions, Inc., the first being Intellivision Lives with about 50 games on it. This collection has 36 playables including all of the Activision and Imagic titles. Even some titles that were unreleased (See List Below)

Each game includes all the details such as the story behind the game, who developed it, the overlay and some FMVs with people behind the game. Beyond the 36 playables are 4 additional titles with all the info, but because of licensing, the games themselves are not included.

The CD is compatible with both PC and MAC platforms. I'm using a PC with WIN98 and my PSX controller thru USB adapter works with all the games. This is sweet as I've been trying to emulate Dreadnaught Factor for some time.

There is some bonus materials that I haven't looked thru yet including some audio tracks, original Intellivision Commercials and some other interesting tidbits. Hey, I've only had the disc in my possession for a few hours now, I'm still gaga over the games.

This is such a refreshing collection of titles when compared to that piece of junk released for the Playstation (see my thrashing of that game at http://www.vgt.com/intellivisionpsx.html). The disc retails for $29.95 which I think is quite reasonable for the amount of quality games you are getting, several games never released in cart format and a boatload of information that an Intellivision collector would be interested in.
