i have absolutely no programming experience whatsoever other than a 20 goto 10 basic three liner on the C64 20 years ago.

i'd really like to be able to program a simple game on the atari 2600 and am not afraid to learn.

can anyone point me in the right direction on where to start from the absolute beginning? and i mean beginning.

the more basic the better.

thanks in advance!

I agree with Thomas, start with batari BASIC. It actually makes it easy to slip into assembly at your own pace, because you can include inline assembly code in your bB (batari BASIC) program, so you can learn assembly a little bit at a time.

PS -- But do read Andrew's tutorial, even if you aren't going to jump into assembly yet, because there's a lot of good information in there that you need to know.
