hex65000 #1 Posted December 15, 2006 So my four auctions were rolling along... poorly. I'm getting used to the abuse on that front, and just as an extra surprise, I get this little nugget from the powers that be... The listing was removed because it violated the eBay Paypal Payments policy. The violation occurred when you included the following information in your listing: I DO NOT accept .....payments from a credit card through PayPal. All fees related to this listing have been credited to your account. We also notified members who placed bids on the item that the listing has been canceled. Sellers who offer PayPal as a payment method in their listings are required to accept all forms of PayPal payment options without restrictions. Sellers are not permitted to tell buyers that they will only accept certain forms of PayPal payment. This requirement also applies to PayPal credit card payments. This was a new one for me. I guess they decided to up enforcement to help fill the coffers? Well, now I'm stumped, do I come up with clever wording without the word PayPal in it? Or do I give in and say sure, I'll take credit cards and do even worse on my auctions? Since I'm not a professiona Ebay flipper I just never saw the value in 'upgrading' my account and still don't really. And it's not like I'll ever actually get my hands on any real money from PayPal. It's like this nebulous void where cash goes in and never comes out -- unless your'e a stock holder. I can make a pattern that might cause their webcrawler to miss the keywords that I suspect that they are searching for. Just a little frustrated is all... Thoughts? Hex. +RandomPerson #2 Posted December 15, 2006 They are trying to make sure you "upgrade" your paypal account to business or premimum by the sounds of things. Reason for that is cause they want the extra fee money they get from the "upgraded" accounts. Bunch of losers. Sorry to hear of your troubles Hex. mrppv666 #3 Posted December 15, 2006 I had a problem with this like a year ago. I THINK you can put you accept paypal funds (echeck/bank account) in the "item description" part but you can't put it where it's listed under "payment methods accepted" if you don't take the credit cards. I do believe I just listed money orders as my only payment method and put in the description itself I would accept the paypal bank funds transfer and didn't have a problem. It's been a while so I'm not sure if they're cracking down even more so but it is a ridiculous stipulation!
CGQuarterly #4 Posted December 15, 2006 It's an unfortunate situation. People don't want to link their PP accounts to their bank accounts because it takes away a level of security, but then the seller gets screwed when the buyer pays with a CC. Instead of stating what you DON'T take, just state what you do take, as was mentioned above. Just mark down that you take MOs, and then in the item description say that you take MOs and Paypal bank transfers. That way you never actually say that you don't take CC payments. May work, may not. If that doesn't work, make a jpeg that says that you don't take CC payments and maybe their webcrawler will pass you by. Chris
SpendTooMuchOnAtari #5 Posted December 15, 2006 Click for ebay policy I sell on ebay and of course have the right account but I really don't have an opinion either way on the situation. I just thought I would link to an ebay page that does state their rule. Good luck with whatever you decide to do with ebay and paypal.
B.U.Terriers #6 Posted December 15, 2006 It's been this way for at least two years... remember getting an auction pulled for the exact reason. I agree, it sucks when you get hit with fees left and right to sell a $4 or $5 game... BU
