WHOOOO! New BC List Of Games!

Recommended Posts

A couple of good comments from the thread at Major Nelson's site:

... I think it would be better for Microsoft to add a feature to make incompatible games attempt to run, but warn you that the game is incompatible or untested and make you choose if you want to run it or not. That way, even if a game don't work properly, we can at least attempt to run it.

Bonus points for Psychonauts. Now where's Beyond Good & Evil?

Obligatory "but I really wanted THESE games" post, mainly because I e-mail it to the BC team almost weekly and still no results:

MechAssault and/or MechAssault 2

ToeJam & Earl III

NFL 2K5

Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath

Well, they finally added Dead or Alive Ultimate (hopefully that means Ultimate 2). It's nice to see that Soul Calibur 2 has been added, even though the XBox version is a pale shadow of it's NGC and PS2 counterparts.

I'd still like to see them make Shattered Union and Dai Senryaku VII BC. And it would be nice if they actually got around to fixing Star Trek: Shattered Universe and making it play correctly.

Considering the unfortunate reality of todays asshat society that is a stupid statement. Can you imagine the flood of calls and the angry messages sprawled over the entire internet from people who'd think they were wronged because an unsupported game glitched crashed on them at some point? :?

Too true, unfortunately.

I can wait. Receiving a new batch of games to play on the Xbox 360 every three months is a fun surprise. It's not the best backward compatibility solution, but I can live with it. Besides, now I can finally play Psychonauts on a VGA monitor! How could I possibly complain about that?

Every time this list is updated, I feel like I get a bunch of new games. Yeah, they're the same old games that have been sitting on my shelf unplayed, but the nice white wireless controller really makes a difference. It's nice to have all the DOA fighters compatible at last! Psychonauts, too. Maybe I'll play it now. ;-)

I just did! It looks nice on a VGA monitor, but fifteen minutes in you forget that you're playing it in high-def.

I'm certainly pleased. A few weeks ago I bought Splinter Cell: Double Agent for xbox, only to find that my machine wouldn't read the disc. So now that my 360 will, I can finally play the game!

I'm really having a hard time understanding why MechAssault (either of them) is still not ready for the 360. It's a MS game and it sold really well. I suppose it could be something that can't be done. You would think it was one of the top 20 games to get completed for the BC list.

Something that's not mentioned all that often which is very cool is that while the Xbox and 360 versions share the same overall story line for SC:DA, the games themselves are almost completely different. For big fans of Sam Fisher (like me) it was like an early christmas! :D

this new update drops the amount of xbox games in my collection that are unplayable down to 4 out of over 30 i have. Just cant wait till my 360 comes back from repairs then i'm grabbing Destroy All Humans and Psychonauts.

My thoughts exactly, when I heard the rumor about the leaked BC list the other day I went out and took a chance and bought it, besides having the better version of DA now it's also nice to complete the set.

Since DOA2 is now BC, and I just remembered it has an online play feature, can it be played online on the 360?

I'm confused on this point, because I seem to recall reading somewhere that BC XBox games could not be played on a 360 Live membership.

If this were true, then how are 360 folks playing Halo 2?

Yes, that is definitely not true because I was playing Halo 2 on XBox live using my 360 this weekend.

Your recollections are incorrect. Existing XBL memberships convert to 360 "Gold" memberships when you register the 360. You can't be logged into two different boxes at the same time, though -- so there's no free multiplayer between the two boxes over the internet using the same account. Local networking (aka System Link) would work, though.

Online backwards compatibility works on the 360 just fine, and I invite anyone whose interested to add "flojomojo" to your friends list, especially if you would like to play a little Star Wars Battlefront II.

I remember this being mentioned recently here on these forums. Now that I think of it, the poster switching over his Live membership to the 360 found that he could no longer use his account on his regular XBox. That was probably where I got the idea from.

One of these days we have to get together for that Gauntlet game. And sooner or later I'll have good games of Defender and Robotron and skunk your scores. ;)

You can migrate a existing Xbox 1 Live account to the 360 and still use it on both systems (Just not at the same time), they must've did something wrong Gabriel.
