sandmountainslim #1 Posted December 17, 2006 I would break bad on everyone who dissed me by homebrewing up a whoop-ass Swordquest Ice World which would put the other games to shame. I would then give out prizes to anyone who figgered it out, I would buy the prizes with my own money I'm not Tod Frye though. WP
Clint Thompson #2 Posted December 17, 2006 I'm sure 99% of it was just envy..... While Ice World probably will never happen, I would be interested in seeing him walk down a wall without head injury. =)
Rom Hunter #3 Posted December 17, 2006 Ice is frozen water. Would be rather silly to make a Swordquest - IceWorld. Just wait for the AirWorld proto to appear some day.
Shawn #4 Posted December 17, 2006 Ice is frozen water. Would be rather silly to make a Swordquest - IceWorld. Just wait for the AirWorld proto to appear some day. Or just re-write it from scratch. Now that would be cool.
SeaGtGruff #5 Posted December 17, 2006 (edited) Just wait for the AirWorld proto to appear some day. It's simple, really... (1) Find the long-lost prototype(s) of AirWorld. (2) Disassemble the ROM(s) and add comments to the code. (3) Kidnap Tod Frye. (4) Force him to complete the programming on AirWorld. (5) Get DC Comics to create the AirWorld comic book. (6) Brea... (cough, cough)... "walk" into Jack Tramiel's house. (7) Stea... (cough, cough)... "obtain" the unawarded SwordQuest prizes. (8 ) Hold the long-overdue WaterWorld contest and award the Crown. (9) Release AirWorld. (10) Hold the AirWorld contest and award the Philosopher's Stone. (11) Hold the Grand Finale SwordQuest contest and award the Sword. If all that's too difficult, just do (6) and (7), and give me the Philosopher's Stone (you can keep the Crown and the Sword for yourselves). Michael ("I Know Nothing! Nothing!") sandmountainslim #6 Posted December 17, 2006 I say it would be better to write Airworld off as a lost cause and soldier on with Ice World I don't know any of the High Bosses at DC Comics but I DO know Kurt Busiek (he is a writer), I don't know that I could force him to write an Ice World comic. I am not so certain that ice and water are the same element just like I am not convinced that a catfish IS a fish. WP

Of course.... that would be way to cool for the 'now' Atari to try, isn't it. No, that would be way to awesome....

Crazy Climber #9 Posted December 17, 2006 Tod Frye What's he doing these days anyways? Is he still involved in the Game industry at all?
SeaGtGruff #10 Posted December 18, 2006 What's he doing these days anyways? Is he still involved in the Game industry at all? I think he's still interested in the old days, because he attends classic gaming expos. At least, I went to a class gaming expo a few years ago (in 1999? wow, was it really 7.5 years ago?), and he was there, along with some of the other biggies-- the guys who left to form Activision, the guys who left to form Imagic, etc. From what I (vaguely) remember, it seems like he was involved in the gaming industry in some shape or form-- but a lot can happen in 7+ years, so who knows? jaybird3rd #13 Posted December 18, 2006 I wish he would come to AA and redeem his image with a cool homebrew Hey, no redemption necessary in my book. Pac-Man may not have been what everyone wanted, but by all accounts he was a brilliant programmer as well as ... let's say one of the more unusual personalities at Atari. I'd love to see a homebrew from him, but if he's not up to that, a re-enactment of the fire sprinkler incident or the famous jump from the hotel room window would satisfy me.
