5 1/4 floppy connector= 2600 cart connector?

Can a 5 1/4 floppy connector (or even and 3 1/2 connector) work as a substitube for a 2600 cartirdge connector? The connector would have to have a 24 gauge ribbon cable attached to it to work from what I know. Ben Heckerson used some part of a floppy connector on his first 2600 portable, sadly he didn't specify.

Yes, sort of. The conductor spacing is the same, but the floppy drive has 34 conductors while the 2600 has 24. I used a floppy connector for the cart slot in my modded FB2.

5 1/4, and only the old kind with the card edge connector.

Yes. 3.5" used pin connector not card edge connector.

 

And it's not just the connector, you also need dust flap prongs to open the cart's flaps.
