gamer1682 #1 Posted December 20, 2006 It seems I can't really make a choice here. Either A: attempt to mod my FB2 with little soldering experience and have a large chance of frying it; OR, if I am sucessful, not be able to play star raiders since its a REV A. But on the other hand, I could buy a jr. at the same price with several games. Here are the pros and cons FB2 Pros: Already Have, 40 games, $19.99 FB2 Cons: Has to be modded for cartridge use, no compatibility with Star raiders 2600 jr. Pros: same price as FB2, comes often with 5-10 games, cartrige ready and compatible with mainly the entire 2600 library. 2600 jr. Cons: No RCA output, Dont have it, Risk of buying it on ebay. What would you choose?

What would you choose? My choice is both. But if I had to choose between the 2 I am going to go with the Atari Jr. Nothing can beat the original. Crazy Climber #3 Posted December 20, 2006 Real hardware is always cooler. Theres a guy on these forums that will mod your Atari to a/v for 15 bucks, can't remember his name but I'll post it when I do.

Atarifever #5 Posted December 20, 2006 Real hardware is always cooler. In my opinion the FB2 is real hardware. It might be somewhat changed, but with a cart slot added, it basically is the 2600. Besides, then we get to say the 2600 is the only system sold in four decades, and two millenia.
Ghost Soldier #6 Posted December 20, 2006 Go with the jr
Thomas Jentzsch #7 Posted December 20, 2006 You can buy bare Jrs here for ~10EUR.
Recycled #8 Posted December 20, 2006 I decided against hacking my FB2. I didn't want to take the chance of ruining it.
Lord Helmet #9 Posted December 20, 2006 I would get the 2600 Jr. That way you could keep your FB2 in an unmodded condition.
jboypacman #10 Posted December 20, 2006 I would go and just buy yourself a Atari Jr.That way you have both a FB2 and a Jr.
elviticus #11 Posted December 20, 2006 Get the Junior! For the price of one new PS2/Xbox game you could get the system and a ton of great games. I don't think you'll regret it!
Uzumaki #12 Posted December 20, 2006 FB 2 doesn't work with all games and last I heard, it won't work with the video touch pad either.
shadow460 #13 Posted December 21, 2006 I've got a FB2 also, and I have decided not to mod it. Other than that, I do not own a 2600. My 7800 plays every 2600 game I have, so that's how I do it. You can, however, re use your joysticks from the FB2.
sandmountainslim #14 Posted December 21, 2006 You can buy bare Jrs here for ~10EUR. How many Doubloons is that? WP
Uzumaki #15 Posted December 21, 2006 Depends, are those gold plated chocolate or real solid gold? chocolate, you're looking at about 40 or 50 of them. Solid gold, you could get a dozen or so complete and working Jr's for one Doubloon.
