+Propane13 #1 Posted December 20, 2006 The following are games I believe have an ending, but take an investment of time to get there: - Double Dragon - Secret Quest - Solaris - Fatal Run (but maybe it doesn't end, according to an article I read?) - Dragon Stomper - Sword of Saros - Escape From the Mindmaster - Survival Island Which ones have people gotten to the end of (c'mon, be proud)? Which ones are worth the time to get to the end? How much time does it take to "know the strategy", "gear up", practice, and finally able to make it to the last moment? -John

Solaris's ending is rather lame (just shows a bunch of people waving their arms on a planet), but space was pretty limited back then for endings. My favorite is the end of Survival Island. The Rocket ... well I don't want to spoil it for anyone here. Love the fireworks in Mindmaster as well. -Lee
thomasholzer #5 Posted December 20, 2006 Pitfall II has an excellent ending, the Pitfall Harry dance.
shadow460 #6 Posted December 21, 2006 I've beaten every beatable Starpath game. The only ending that's worth the work, IMO, is Escape From the MindMaster. It took me the better part of 15 years of off and on playing to beat Sword of Saros and Survival Island. I got hold of those in 83 or 84. I beat Survival Island in 1997 and Sword of Saros in 2000. By contrast, I beat Dragonstomper and Escape in 1986. I was 11 years old in 1986 when I beat those. Although I haven't got the best ranking, I finished Phaser Patrol shortly after we got it. There are a lot of others that end, too. I haven't got there, but Amidar is supposed to end after six stages. Frankenstein's Monster has an ending, doesn't it? I've beaten that game about once. Spike's Peak has a somewhat funny "ending". Ghost Manor also has an ending that's kinda ho-hum.
D.Yancey #7 Posted December 23, 2006 Double Dragon has an ending. But, just seeing all of the different scenes and hearing the music is enough reward for me. And you get to see the guy that shoots bullets, and your girlfriend..... Best music of any 2600 game! (not counting homebrews) This is such a cool game if anyone would ever take the time to learn the controls instead of writing bad reviews in the forums about Double Dragon. Deteacher #8 Posted December 23, 2006 Squeeze Box boasted in it's manual "The hottest ending" for a video game. I always liked that ending. Pretty ingenius back in the day.

Squeeze Box has an ending? Does this mean when the guy gets squished? Or, is there a good ending? -John
The MilkMan #10 Posted December 27, 2006 I guess landing the Space Shuttle could be considered an ending. Although, docking with the satellite the required amount and retaining an appropriate amount of fuel to lend yourself a patch or pilot wings, I have yet to accomplish.
