rheffera #1 Posted December 21, 2006 From what ive read about this game i got the impression it was going to be annoying POOR like Airlock, but i got the cart today and plugged it in..perhaps a bit slow but i like it. hell, i even enjoy it,. and i dont think some of the criticism it gets is justified. Yes, it has flaws, but as a 2600 platformer i love it. How does everyone else feel?
jpfalcon2003 #2 Posted December 21, 2006 Can't play it in my 7800.

shadow460 #4 Posted December 21, 2006 Can't play it in my 7800. Mod the 7800. MattG knows how. Miner on the 2600 is okayish, but it may be the least favorable of all the various ports. Once you learn how to time your jumps, you'll have a ball with it.
oesii #5 Posted December 21, 2006 It's pretty bad if you grew up playing Miner on the Atari 8bit or 5200

deadmeow #7 Posted December 21, 2006 All of the other versions were so much better. My friend had it for Atari 5200 and I had it for Colecovision, and later for the Apple II.
JacobZu7zu7 #8 Posted December 21, 2006 I played it on Emulator, it was pretty fun.
Big Player #9 Posted December 22, 2006 If you like Miner 2049er for the 2600, try the homebrew Hunchy 2. It's a much better platform game.
NovaXpress #10 Posted December 22, 2006 I actually hate this game on any system. It's clever, but I never found it to be fun. I pop in the 8-bit version about once a year to see if I'll finally see why people like this game, but it never happens. But I don't like Pitfall either and I think Encounter at L-5 is a Top Twenty Game, that's what's always fun about personal taste.
Foxsolo2000 #11 Posted December 22, 2006 In a way I am in agreement with Nova (gasp horror!!) The 2600 version is horrendous in every way. I have attempted to love it as others have done but to no avail. my love was for the 8-bit versions for Tigervision really dropped the ball on this one
Tempest #12 Posted December 22, 2006 I suppose if you've never played another version of Miner then the 2600 version doesn't seem too bad, but it really is. The sad thing is that the 2600 could have done a halfway decent Miner if someone had put more effort into it. Tempest

jboypacman #14 Posted December 23, 2006 (edited) I have the 5200 version and it is pretty sweet.I have friends who come over and he will ask to play this game every so often.I hear the GameBoy version is pretty good too.At some point am going to get a copy of the 2600 version and test it out myself. Tempest So was it just a case of a programmer who didn't have enough understanding of coding for a 2600 or just laziness on their part? No idea, but I'm sure a modern programmer could really do a nice Miner on the 2600 (HINT HINT!). Tigervision games were all contracted out so the quality is really hit and miss. Take a look at a game like River Patrol or Polaris and then take a look at King Kong or Miner. The quality difference is night and day. Tempest
