boek #1 Posted December 22, 2006 A guy wants to sell me a "slim" 2600 (I'm assuming the Jr.), 2 joysticks, 2 adapters and these games: Asteroids, Defender, Missile Command, California Games, Berzerk, Pac-Man, Star Raiders, Galaxian, Yars Revenge, and EPYX Summer Games, all for $50 Canadian. Does this sound like a good deal? I only have a few of those games and I might as well expand my collection. Any thoughts, comments?
Red 5 #2 Posted December 22, 2006 Juniors go for $20 US on Ebay (or less). The list of games does not come anywhere close to $30 US worth of games. I would say you could do better.
godzillajoe #3 Posted December 22, 2006 If you're getting it mainly for the games and you already have a couple of them, no. Could probably get that same setup for 1/2 that price IMO.
boek #4 Posted December 22, 2006 I'm mainly getting it for the system and the joysticks. :/
Dino #5 Posted December 22, 2006 I wouldn't pay more than $
godzillajoe #6 Posted December 22, 2006 Then get a system without games and get the games seperately.
shadow460 #7 Posted December 22, 2006 (edited) What's $50 Canadian equal to in US dollars...about 35 to 40? Might be worth it when you think of the exchange rate. Plus if he gets it from ebay, he has to pay for shipping. If he buys it from a friend, there is no shipping. Finally, if that Yars' Revenge has the red label, it'll add to the value of the lot. Does this sound like a good deal? I only have a few of those games and I might as well expand my collection. Any thoughts, comments? It would also depend on the condition. If he was one of those people that kept everything nice and mint with all the original boxes/manuals then I would say yes. If it's just a box of actiplaqued games with tangled sticky cords hanging over the side and an inch of dust to top it all off then no.
PressureCooker2600 #10 Posted December 22, 2006 crazy climber hit tha nail on tha head..... get it for that price, if its all nice and boxed and minty fresh if not.....wait for a better deal to come along
Paul Humbug #11 Posted December 22, 2006 why not negotiating? maybe he prefers to do a quick and easy sale with you than having all the hazzles with ebay, shipping and so on or maybe he wouldn´t sell at all if you don´t take it, so you can offer him a 30 US bucks and wait for his reaction. Foxsolo2000 #12 Posted December 22, 2006 Its a buyers market and there are always better deals to be found.Does the price include postage or not?
Rik #13 Posted December 23, 2006 (edited) Sounds like a fairly good deal, dont get too stingy,as 2600 carts are getting harder and harder to get in the wild, and I myself lost out on some really good games cus i thought i could get them cheaper elsewhere, plus ebay is the more expensive route anyway, especially with the exchange rate, and shipping costs.OH yes,it also depends on the condition,if the cart labels are all ripped up,peeling away, dirty, with the ever so famous peoples names written on the labels, which REALLY PISSES ME OFF PERSONALLY,id say forget it,and talk the price down. But,if you're not a serious collector, and mucked up cart labels dont bother you,go for it,after all,its the games that count really, if they work. boek #15 Posted December 25, 2006 I ended up getting the 2600 and games this afternoon. The carts are in GREAT condition, no actiplaque or ripping. Also included was five boxes for Asteroids, Missile Command, Defender, Berzerk, and Yars' Revenge. I'd say it was worth it.
