Heaven/TQA #1 Posted December 24, 2006 haven't knew that someone compiled the beta of Fox' engine used in numen... check it out... you can walk around and change the few of the cam with keyboard.... not bad... http://atari.fandal.cz/detail.php?files_id=5474
carmel_andrews #2 Posted December 24, 2006 not seen it but isn't that cheating....or aren't they creative enough to do their own quake engine demo If it was 'fox' or 'yourself' (heaven) that did this demo, i'd understand (as that's your code) tell fox and yourself, keep up the good work next year (how's about a new 'numen' demo that's bigger and better then the last)

Fandal and Bob!k clearly stated out that the Vector engine is a part of the source code release of Numen. The only requirement was, that somebody had to compile it. Can't see any cheating here. Fröhn #4 Posted December 24, 2006 Hmm 3D Quake engine? More like Doom engine, or if you refer to the portal technique call it Build/Duke Nukem 3D engine (although it lacks slopes).
Heaven/TQA #5 Posted December 24, 2006 oops. could be duke nukem 3d.... not sure...but definitly not doom as you can not watch up down which you can in the vector demo...
miker #6 Posted December 25, 2006 I would be happy if ANY game will be done using this engine (not only DOOM/Duke style).
Heaven/TQA #7 Posted December 25, 2006 a RPG could be cool... an action game well... or midimaze...
Fröhn #8 Posted December 25, 2006 oops. could be duke nukem 3d.... not sure...but definitly not doom as you can not watch up down which you can in the vector demo... Not in Doom, but afair games like Heretic/Hexen let you look up/down while using the Doom engine.

Not in Doom, but afair games like Heretic/Hexen let you look up/down while using the Doom engine. I think Hexen was built on Quake 1 engine, but I may be wrong... Anyway, IMHO this engine is a little bit too sluggish, perhaps some optimizations could still be made. Or maybe the viewport could be reduced in favour of performance (narrow playfield?). Heaven/TQA #10 Posted December 26, 2006 PG i guess for a RPG its fast enough?

Hexen was released months before Quake came out. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HeXen "Hexen uses a modified version of the Doom engine [...]"

Gury #13 Posted January 12, 2007 It would be also good to have fast drawing algorithms for graphics 7 or 7+ (and ANTIC 4/5 modes) screens.
