Rik #1 Posted December 27, 2006 (edited) I was wondering the other day if the possibility exists that somewhere there is a lucky soul who owns the complete atari cartridge library, that includes 3rd party games as well,or if such a person has ever been documented, seems to me pretty slim, but i've been amazed at some people's various collections over the years.Or,is there anyone HERE close? As far as NTSC U.S. Released games a week ago I would have said yes. But since the Birthday Mania cartridge popped up my guess is probably not.
edman87k5 #3 Posted December 27, 2006 Is there even a list that is the complete collection including 3rd party releases?
Red 5 #4 Posted December 27, 2006 It's fun to dream that I might get every NTSC cart. Games like Pepsi Invaders, Atlantis II and now Birthday Mania make you realize just how impossible a dream it is unless you have a Wonderful stash to devote to the hobby. Maybe... just maybe I will get lucky at one of the thousands of tag sales, fleas and thrift stores. Maybe just once. But to think it will happen more than that is a pipe-dream. It's hard enough getting Quadrun, Tooth Protectors, etc. But getting and Air Raid or NTSC Mangia are just about impossible.
Uzumaki #5 Posted December 28, 2006 The number of known copies of Air Raid is so small you could count them with just one hand. There may be just 1 or 2 in the whole world that is just a few carts shy of a true complete NTSC collection. Throw in boxes, box variations, label variations, and manual variations and you'd go bald before you reach 25.

Lord Thag #7 Posted December 28, 2006 The closest I've seen personally is Rick's. I think he said he was five or six away. I know I'm gonna stop the moment the carts start costing more than $40-$50 each.

I know I'm gonna stop the moment the carts start costing more than $40-$50 each. That is simply amazing. You know every time I hear of this I think back to the early 80's when there was a kid that was mentioned on a news cast that had prototypes sent to him to review for gaming magazines, and he had hundreds along a wall THEN. I made the mistake of saying I probably had more carts than that kid before the newscast. Man did I eat humble pie that day.

Lord Thag #10 Posted December 29, 2006 That is simply amazing. I made the mistake of saying I probably had more carts than that kid before the newscast. Man did I eat humble pie that day. Yeah, his room is amazing. He even has two complete Atari display kiosks. I met him through a mutual friend at NWCGE a year and a half ago. Hell of a great guy. It's seriously like being a kid in a candy shop. Makes my game room look like the minor leagues (and I have a LOT). Actually, all the guys that put on the show up there are really nice folks. I've had a blast both times I've went. homerwannabee #11 Posted December 29, 2006 (edited) As far as jawdropping NTSC collections there are a few that are pretty impressive. I will put them in order of greatness 1. Wonder007 only needs 4 carts to complete the collection(Birthday Mania included). Also has the greatest NTSC prototype lot, and has an awesome homebrew lot to boot. 2. Marco this guy has the greatest PAL collection known to man. His NTSC collection was also number one until Wonder007 passed him up. 3. CPUWIZ is very close to a complete collection as well. He has some cool looking repro carts as well 4. Rick weiss as nice as people have stated 5. Tempest he actually might be closer to a complete collection than anybody, but a lot of his are loose carts(I think) 6. Ianoid has some pretty cool rarity 10 carts 7. Cincynoti also has a decent collection 8. Atariager has some good ones as well 9. Joe Cody this is the guy that owns atari2600.com he bought out Jerry Greiner in 2001. Jerry Greiner had the number 1 collection before this time 10. Ataripitbull has a very impressive boxed colletion 11.Sku_U has some very rare carts in his collection 12. DreamTR has acumulated an extremly impressive boxed game collection in a short period of time. 13. Curt Vendall has gotten hold of some pretty historical items in regards to Atari All these people could have a museum built around their collection. simbalion #13 Posted December 31, 2006 I just enjoy what games I can find. Personally, I only have about 100 games I think. That seems to be just the tip of the iceberg with the Atari 2600.
+RandomPerson #14 Posted December 31, 2006 I've got 20 2600 and 10 7800 games left in my collection now and I love it. Every one of those 30 games I could play for hours on end without getting bored for one second.
+doctorclu #15 Posted December 31, 2006 I just enjoy what games I can find. Personally, I only have about 100 games I think. That seems to be just the tip of the iceberg with the Atari 2600. Yeh sounds like me, just grabbing what I can get, casually collecting. You know I almost got to the point with the Atari Jaguar that I could have easily picked up all the games. Maybe someday I will. (Only like 100 titles for that), but in the end I think I realized that some of the titles I really didn't care to collect. So there we go. So with the Jag I have like 3/4th of the collection, and happy. Atari 2600 I could get about 1/20th of the collection and be happy.
keilbaca #16 Posted December 31, 2006 Don't forget Smitty, I seen his collection personally, he's only a handful of carts away from having the complete set.

Dusk2600 #18 Posted January 1, 2007 im sure there is more then just one, i will bet people threw theirs away, cus who would buy a cart personialized to someone else?
CPUWIZ #19 Posted January 1, 2007 5. Tempest he actually might be closer to a complete collection than anybody, but a lot of his are loose carts(I think) Tempest isn't even near close. 9. Joe Cody this is the guy that owns atari2600.com he bought out Jerry Greiner in 2001. Jerry Greiner had the number 1 collection before this time No, Jerry still has his collection, Cody doesn't collect. 10. Ataripitbull has a very impressive boxed colletion Yes, but no cigar. Sorry bro. And while on the subject, I don't count loose as complete, so Wonder007 is miles and miles away from complete.
+Wonder007 #20 Posted January 1, 2007 I've made some major dents with the boxes but still need some more (if I really put effort into it, I can probably complete that task in a few months). I have more R9 and R10 boxes than common ones. I've always been a cart only guy but since I have completed 99% of that, I figured I should go get the manuals and boxes. My priority is getting the ultra rare stuff (protos, etc...) which I think makes my collection unique (I have bought several protos from Marco, Tempest, CPUWIZ, etc...)
