For sale (or swap for Atari 2600 stuff): modded original Xbox (UK)

Recommended Posts

Hardly used. About half a dozen (old!) games, Halo, Splinter Cell, Project Gotham, couple of others that escape me. Was occasionally used as a media player, it has Xbox Media Center on it and a few other utilities. I would put it on ebay but I think the whole modded/chipped aspect would get it pulled. Would do someone as a Linux box if they were so inclined, or for a MAME cabinet perhaps. If anyone wants to make me an offer, either in money or boxes of Atari gear, drop me a PM, otherwise I'll drop it on ebay and leave out the chipped bit.

(I'm only just starting out with the Atari collecting stuff so if you want to trade for that, just fire offers my way; chances are I won't have what you're offering me)

It'll play backups (in fact there's a copy of Project Gotham 2 on the hard disk - I just woke up one day and found it there, honest ;)) and US titles. At the moment it's set to output PAL so that might be a problem (unless you have an HDTV, in which case such things as PAL/NTSC become irrelevent) but there are utilities out there that'll switch a modded PAL xbox to output NTSC and vice versa (according to this forum discussion).

The chip is a very early mod, just so the thing will run unsigned code (so you can forget Xbox Live, I'm afraid). Other than that it'll do pretty much anything you want from an Xbox scene point of view.
