Skywalker #1 Posted June 15, 2002 I was rummaging around the local Goodwill Store the other day and I saw a diskdrive with a cartridge adapter for inserting a console game slot. It is a red or maroon color and the disk drive looked to be a 3.5 inch floppy, on the diskdrive is a place for 6 C size batteries. What is this for? I have never heard of Nintendo Home Computers, that is what the diskdrive and adapter is labeled. There is more writing under the disk drive but it is all in Japanese. Does anyone know anything about these items? Is the NES toploader the same thing as Famicom??????????? I have never seen one up close before. I thought you can hook it up to a SNES or something for games, there is 1 other output slot for connecting it to a computer or game console besides the adapter for cartridge slots. *************** Check out my stuff for sale in the Market Place Form *************************************
Thelen #2 Posted June 15, 2002 that thing what you have seen is a thing to dump cartridges to floppy disks, and it can load from floppy disks games to that device, so you can play games from floppy on the nintendo. i don't know the name of it anymore, and there are models for nes, snes, genesis. thelen
Thelen #3 Posted June 16, 2002 btw if it's for cheap I really should buy it, and some of them have a parallel port (or serial) so you can download rom files to it and play them on REAL hardware. thelen
Skywalker #4 Posted June 16, 2002 Yeah it was only 3.99 or something. Wouldn't you need the Nintendo computer to do the downloads or other hardware to make it work though? Also does anyone know a website with any info. about this? I tried to do some searching but all I came up with was regular NES stuff. .........these new faces are cool........................... joshk #5 Posted June 16, 2002 For $3.99 I have to go with thelen and say pick it up. I seen something like this on Ebay yesterday for the SNES. I whink it was called Windcard or something like that.
liquid_sky #6 Posted June 16, 2002 are you sure its not a disk drive addon for the famicom?
Skywalker #7 Posted June 16, 2002 If I recall, the adapter did not look quite long enough to fit down inside a Famicom or SNES. On the diskdrive it was written: NINTENDO Family Computer Disk System.

Skywalker #11 Posted June 16, 2002 Hello all, I bought the diskdrive!!!!!!!!! Do you know anyplace I may find games for this diskdrive? It does not fit in my SuperFamicom, I guess I need to buy a Famicom system. BTW is the Famicom a TopLoader NES???
ubersaurus #12 Posted June 16, 2002 Yeah, thats a top loader. I don't think the SNES's work with NES equipment. Well, they work with the controllers with a modification...
Skywalker #13 Posted June 17, 2002 Today I just traded my Sega Saturn for a NES Toploader and some games. And, I tried the rom adapter for the Disk drive........ It does not fit the Top Loader....... I checked out Ebay for Nintendo Family Computers and they showed something totally different from what I have.... It looks to be a pinkish console???? Oh, well it only cost me 3 buck plus tax...... not bad. And I just scored big time on my trade for the Sega Saturn I never did like any Sega systems or games.... Skywalker #16 Posted June 17, 2002 That is the disk drive I have but it doesn't fit in the Top Loader. The rom adapter is a slightly different size and it does not fit down all the way for the connection to be made. I probably wont look into buying one of those red Famicom Systems until I find a good supply of games,software....etc.... Thanks for the info everyone..... Any information on games or software for this disk drive would be appreciated.
