Pinball question...

Recommended Posts

Well, a bit off-topic, but I thought I'd give it a try anyway.

I had a couple of days off from work and decided to do some work on my Funhouse pinball. I cleaned it, changed a bunch of broken lamps, installed a new trap door and replaced a bunch of the rubber bands. Now, one final issue is remaining: the steps gate will not close. It opens up nicely, but it won't spring back into the default position again. As far as I can see, there's a little spring that should do this, and there appears nothing wrong with the spring. Anyone have any idea what could be wrong here?

Cheers,

Marco

There are a few things that could be wrong. The most likely being that the contacts on that switch are dirty. You can clean tham with a fine grit sand paper. The coil could be bad or the transistor that controls that coil could be bad. Most likely it is a physical problem though. That little coil pulls tight and a leaf switch or two should make contact. As far as I remember there is a switch that opens the door and a different switch that closes the door.
