Arcade #1 Posted January 3, 2007 As I posted in my blog, today was the first time I ever played this game. I'm ashamed of myself for never EVER letting the Atari 2600 taste the goodness that is this game. While I must say I stunk my first play times (I think my highest was 12 or 14k), I can go ahead and say that I did enjoy the game VERY much. Now I see why alot of people talk highly of this game. All the wasted time of not playing River Raid! I've had this game for a while, but I can't understand why I haven't played it. But I can now hold my head up high and say I have played this great game. All I need to do now is go for the 20k score! (Got to start slowly I guess). Ghost Soldier #3 Posted January 3, 2007 (edited) Last night was the first time I have played solaris. I was amazed with that game and should have played it sooner. I've yet to play river raid. There are a few of the must play games that I have yet to play. I'll get around to it someday in the future. Meanwhile I pass time by playing defender and kaboom!. I know exactly where your coming from. Edited January 3, 2007 by Ghost Soldier
ActionGeek #4 Posted January 3, 2007 River Raid has to be one of the absolute best, re-play-able games for the 2600. I wish I could say the same for River Raid II, but I could never get the hang of the whole managing of altitude thing in II that River Raid the original never took into account (you were always at the same altitude in the original). This is the game (along with Enduro) that really made Activision jump out as THE innovative 3rd party designer of games for the 2600 for me anyway. The MilkMan #5 Posted January 3, 2007 I wish I could say the same for River Raid II, but I could never get the hang of the whole managing of altitude thing in II that River Raid the original never took into account (you were always at the same altitude in the original). Is River Raid II like Zaxxon? Man, I suck at that. I just can't get the hang of being on the same plane as other objects to shoot at. BTW ActionGeek, is that a Honda Metropolitan in your avatar? I dig the scooter scene. I have a Honda CBR900RR sport bike myself, but my girlfriend wants a scooter.
