Mendon #1 Posted January 3, 2007 (edited) I've played the demo of Sonic and the control was bad enough to make me not consider buying the game. But then I ran across this video of gameplay and couldn't believe that Sega would release something this bad. Sonic on the Xbox 360 The clip is 10min long but you don't have to sit thru it that long (unless you are into self abuse) to see how terrible this game is. Clint Thompson #2 Posted January 3, 2007 I had such high hopes for this game as well. It's not even really the controls for me... it's the viewing distance that blocks everything and keeps you from seeing wtf is going on.... A coulda / woulda / shoulda been game... sadly. Lord Helmet #3 Posted January 3, 2007 I also played the demao and was really dissapointed. The controls are terrible. Too bad...I was looking forward to a new Sonic game.
diggs130 #4 Posted January 3, 2007 Same here the demo was enough to keep this off my buy list.

I am a huge Sonic/Sega fan and if I sat through the first four minutes of that video actually playing the game, someone or something would have been hurt. That is awful!!!!!!!!!! Shannon #6 Posted January 3, 2007 I heard it sucked ass pretty bad. Kinda up there with shadow the hedgehog.

ninjarabbit #8 Posted January 3, 2007 I played the demo too and it turned me off. I died 3 times in 30 seconds through no fault of my own because of the crap controls.
decypher #9 Posted January 4, 2007 Damn I WAS going to get that game. Not now Jim
moycon #10 Posted January 4, 2007 I'm glad I never got into Sonic games.
bdog_147 #11 Posted January 4, 2007 yeah, this game has been getting bad reviews. i liked the first 2 sonic games on genesis the best as well as spinball. shame.
Cheese007 #12 Posted January 4, 2007 This game is up there with Shadow the Hedgehog, easy. I'm so glad I got it used.
ewing92 #13 Posted January 5, 2007 (edited) i played the shitty ass demo also, and died numerous times just by the game glitching. For example, i was running and ran into a rock, and literally got stuck inside, yes i did say inside, the rock and as i was trying to get out of there trying everything, it finally let me get out of the rock, only thing is, it shot me off the ledge and i died, the only thing i could possibly do was laugh. At this point in time, my expectations of any new sonic game are too low to even imagine. And it baffles me how they continue to make any more sonic games, and the worst thing is, is that the 3-D sonic fans will "defend this game with their life", any new sonic game for that matter, no matter how much it horribly sucks ass. My brother, however, is one of them, and what do you know? He has this game! Lol, i was actually considering playing this game just o get some gamerpoints, but then i said to myself, "no i will keep my dignity and stay away from this game." I cannot express in words my hatred for 3-d sonic games(except for sonic adventure 2, which is a horrible game story-wise, but actually is kind of fun), Sonic X bullshit, and calling Dr. Robotnik Dr. Eggman. Cheese007 #14 Posted January 5, 2007 (edited) I liked SA2s story, I'm surprised you didn't like SA1. Usually people who enjoyed SA1 enjoyed SA2. The only Sonic game that I actually think is/thought was going to turn out good of the 4 new ones (Sonic GBA, SNG, Sonic Rivals, Secret Ring) is the last one in that list. Unlike SNGs previews, the previews for this thing are gushing with positives. Edited January 5, 2007 by Cheese007
MegaManFan #15 Posted January 5, 2007 I think a Commodore 64, even without the Fast Load cart, was faster than this.
bruser_inc #16 Posted January 5, 2007 I had a free rental and got it, and really wish I didn't. Shitty load times and the camera seemed worse than the demo. Got to where you first time you met the silver guy and quit.
FastRobPlus #17 Posted January 5, 2007 I didn't like it either, but my son got Sonic for the Leapster. That's actually a pretty good Sonic game.
Atarifever #18 Posted January 5, 2007 I didn't like it either, but my son got Sonic for the Leapster. That's actually a pretty good Sonic game. They should just make DS and GBA Sonic games from now on and avoid the 3D thing. Sonic Advance 1 was pretty great (and from reviews the other SA games were even better, although apparently "Genesis" was bad), and Sonic Rush is, IMHO, the best Sonic since Sonic 2. 4ever2600 #19 Posted January 5, 2007 Yeah, but even I have to say, I've always loved the Sonic oldschool games for the Genny, but remember Sonic for the Dreamcast... Now don't get me wrong, Dreamcast is STILL ONE OF MY FAVORITE CONSOLES! I still play the hell out of mine (even over the newer consoles) But Sonic Adventure for the DC in my humblest of opinions SUCKED! Now the game was great, but what used to REALLLLLLLYY Pi$$ me off was you HAD to watch the stupid 5 minute intro EVERY SINGLE TIME... You couldn't exit it no matter WHAT YOU PUSHED ON THE CONTROLLER...! BAD PROGRAMMING! If I've seen it once, LET ME GET PASSED IT RIGHT AWAY NEXT TIME I PLAY! There I've vented... If anyone knows a way to get out of that please let me know, I actually stopped playing that game cuz I couldn't take it anymore! My 2 cents! - D
EmOneGarand #20 Posted January 6, 2007 I think the Bestiality alone makes the game aweful.. Sonic and a human love interest? WTF

Yeah, the "horrible game story-wise" was pretty harsh, it isn't that bad of a story, it's okay actually, i just don't like some of the things in there. I've never played sonic adventure 1though , i need to, but then i gotta buy a new dc memory card and that will be a while.
Draikar #22 Posted January 7, 2007 LOAD TIME In sonic psp is slow too, not that i hate it but for a new game its some what slow.....
kevincal #23 Posted January 7, 2007 In all honesty, I've never really liked ANY of the 3D Sonics, whereas I really enjoyed the 3D Marios...I loved both the 2D Sonics and Marios...Sega just needs to go back to making some kickass 2D Sonics with blazing speed and say screw the 3D Sonic.
kevincal #24 Posted January 7, 2007 And the video...Don't most games of this type have a nice long load BEFORE play starts so this kind of thing doesn't happen!?
