 Kevin Savetz, curator of AtariMagazines.com, informs us that the full text of 21 additional issues of Compute! magazine have been put online. This includes the magazine's first issue (Fall 1979), several issues from the period 1981 through 1983, and then others from 1989 through 1990. Compute! was published from 1979 through September 1994, covering every major computer platform (including Atari computers) until it became a PC-only publication in May 1988. Thus far, the full text of 44 issues of Compute! is available at AtariMagazines.com.

 Atari 8-bit computer fans should be familiar with the Multi I/O (MIO) peripheral that ICD produced many years ago. The MIO board contains a hard drive interface, high speed serial port, parallel printer port, and onboard RAM that can be configured as RAM disks and a printer buffer. The MIO has been out of production for many years, but AtariAge user Ken Jones (MEtalGuy66) has designed a new MIO board from scratch that he is offering for sale. These new MIO boards will contain 1MB of onboard RAM (original MIO boards were configured with either 256K or 1MB), and will be functionally identical to the original boards, with improved serial and parallel ports have been "fixed" to accept standard PC-compatible printer and modem cables.  There were many great entries submitted to the Rainbow Invaders Label Contest, and the difficult decision to choose a single winner fell upon programmer Silvio Mogno. After careful thought, Silvio picked one of Nathan Strum's designs as the label to grace the shipping version of Rainbow Invaders. Nathan's winning label design will appear on all copies of Rainbow Invaders sold through the AtariAge Store, including the cover of the manual (which has also been designed by Nathan). For winning the contest, Nathan will receive a $100 gift certificate in the AtariAge Store, as well as a copy of Rainbow Invaders featuring his winning design.  A new version of the Atari 7800 emulator EMU7800 is now available. The latest release includes the following improvements:- Added: web browser control on new Help tab
- Fixed: 7800 emulation: 320B mode corrected
- Updated: Moved to .NET 2.0
- Updated: SDL 1.2.10
- Added: emulator sleeps where possible to conserve CPU consumption
- Updated: better pause behavior--modal functions are still available during pause

The Midwest Gaming Classic is the Midwest's only all-encompassing electronic gaming event, taking place June 3rd and 4th in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The event features a wide variety of displays, vendors and special attractions for arcade uprights, computers, pinball and home video games from past to present. This year's event boasts 21,000 square feet of space, over 40 arcade and pinball machines, and speakers such as Scott Adams of Adventure International and Benjamin Heckendorn of BenHeck.com.  Rainbow Invaders is a new Space Invaders style game for the Atari 2600 from Italian developer Silvio Mogno. While many games of this nature have been released for the 2600 (to say nothing of the countless Space Invaders hacks), Silvio's game adds a breath of fresh air to the genre. Yes, you are shooting at descending waves of alien invaders, attempting to finish them off before they reach the ground. However, the aliens also periodically drop one of 16 random Special Shots, some of which will help and some of which will hinder your efforts if you catch them. Your ship also features a shield that will make you invulnerable for a few seconds, at the expense of not being able to fire again right away.

 Version 2.2 of the Atari 2600 emulator Stella has been released. Stella is a top-notch emulator available for several platforms and includes a wealth of features (such as an integrated debugger).  If you're going to be in Ohio this weekend, you'll want to find your way to Cincinnati for CinciClassic '06! Being held at the Fairfield Banquet and Convention Center in Cincinnati, Ohio, CinciClassic '06 takes place Saturday, April 8th from 9am until 11pm. CinciClassic focuses on the classic gaming systems from the 70's and 80's, including systems from Atari, Intellivision, Colecovision, Vectrex and many more. Many of these systems will be setup for play throughout the show and attendees will also be able to partake in various tournaments with some great prizes.  As part of our Spring Homebrew Sale, Qb author Andrew Davie has given us permission to sell Qb for a limited time!  Fans of the popular four-player Atari 2600 game Warlords (itself based on an arcade game of the same name) will be happy to learn that 2600 enthusiast Darrell Spice Jr. is working on a new version of Warlords entitled Medieval Mayhem. While the original version from Atari is still a blast to play, Medieval Madness adds arcade features and a level of polish missing from the original 2600 release, as well as a menu to select options before starting the game.  A new Atari 5200 emulator, kat5200, has recently been released. Kat5200 has a wealth of features to appeal to 5200 fans, including excellent compatibility, command-line support, external palette support, great controller mapping support, full-screen and window support, and much more. Versions are available for Windows and Linux, and the emulator's author, Brian Berlin, has been hard at work improving the emulator and listening to feedback.
