They Want to Take Out My Gallbladder

Posted by Random Terrain, in Personal_Stuff 27 October 2017 · 157 views

I told the gut doctor what game_escape said about a friend getting a HIDA scan , so he scheduled one for me on Monday (Oct. 23). They called me on Thursday to say that the scan showed that I need my gallbladder taken out. They contacted a surgeon who will schedule a consultation. I guess somebody will call me next week.

In case anyone wants to kn...

Moving Soon, So I Could Be Offline for a While

Posted by Random Terrain, in Personal_Stuff 13 October 2017 · 197 views

The new place will be ready in about a week, but it could take 700 years to pack up everything. I have no idea when I'll lose my internet connection. I'm pretty sure it will happen this month (October 2017). If I disappear for a while, you'll know why. My upcoming absence will be tough on you, but try not to cry while I'm gone. :D

Ghostbusters (2016) [It does not inhabit the same universe as the originals.]

Posted by Random Terrain, in TV_and_Movie_Related_Topics 26 August 2017 · 235 views

SPOILERS

I get STARZ for free and I noticed that the 2016 Ghostbusters was going to be on, so I recorded it. I was out of things to keep me company while doing tedious work on my web site, so I started watching/listening to it.

Since the movie came out, various people have been arguing that the film is a continuation, not a remake or a re...

Now It's Not My Pancreas

Posted by Random Terrain, in Personal_Stuff 07 August 2017 · 273 views

Continued from a previous blog entry . I went to a gut doctor today (a belly specialist). He said that the numbers aren't high enough to be any form of pancreatitis. According to him, the scans don't show anything wrong with my pancreas. And my symptoms don't match up either. He thinks it's probably my gallbladder and the no fat/low fat diet I'm on works...

I Thought I Was Having a Mild Heart Attack on Monday

Posted by Random Terrain, in Personal_Stuff 23 July 2017 · 238 views

Around noon on Monday (July 17, 2017) I thought I was having a mild heart attack. I had been having slight pressure in the middle of my chest for days and it would usually go away if I rubbed the area, so I thought it was just a strained muscle. This time the pressure wasn't going away, my whole right arm was tingling all the way up into my fingers, I was...

Amazon Wishlist and 2 more...
I got an e-mail from a friendly person today. They couldn't send me a gift from my Tip Jar Wish List because the address was blank. I went Googling for the answer and found out from an Amazon forum that an Amazon Wishlist shipping address is blank by default. You have to click on "List Settings," then click on "View Details," then change the shipping...

Camo Moth

Posted by Random Terrain, in Nature, Personal_Stuff 02 June 2017 · 262 views

This is the blog post you've been waiting for all your life that will change the Internet forever!

No, not really. It's just a crappy blog entry about a common moth. I don't remember seeing this one before in real life, so I took a few pictures of it. The moth is called the Pandora Sphinx Moth (Eumorpha Pandorus) [Camouflage Moth]. I left the imag...

The 100 TV Show (Spoilers)

Posted by Random Terrain, in TV_and_Movie_Related_Topics 24 May 2017 · 216 views

I'm up to episode 5 of season 3 and it feels like they changed writers at some point. The first season seemed to show that the "Grounders" were territorial rabid dogs who would kill you just because you existed. Then the Grounders got angry in season 2 because a kid from space killed a bunch of them in a village. Grounders were shown to be murderous scumb...

Protection for Bad Home Putters

Posted by Random Terrain, in Personal_Stuff 10 March 2017 · 508 views

My sister and I like to go to Putt-Putt , but we usually don't have the extra time or extra money during the days when it isn't too hot or too cold outside. We decided to spend a few bucks and make our own home putting area with a Callaway Kickback Putt Cup and a Callaway Deluxe Putting Mat . The problem is that I don't see in 3D properly, so I'm bad...

If You're Going to Go, Valentine's Day Is Better Than Christmas

Posted by Random Terrain, in Personal_Stuff 15 February 2017 · 455 views

Continued from my previous blog entry . My mother died last night about an hour and a half after midnight (about an hour and a half after Valentine's Day). Maybe she held on long enough so she wouldn't die on an actual holiday. According to Wikipedia , Valentine's Day isn't an official holiday anyway, so if you're going to die near a holiday, Valentine'...

Thought I Was Going to Bleed to Death While Getting Ready to See My Mom

Posted by Random Terrain, in Personal_Stuff 10 February 2017 · 437 views

Continued from my previous blog entry . My mother has been in a hospice place where people go to die since the last week of January 2017. She was scared and lonely when it got dark outside, so I started staying with her at night and have been trying to sleep for at least a few hours at home during the day whenever someone could find the time to give me a...

Weeks to Live Instead of Months

Posted by Random Terrain, in Personal_Stuff 28 January 2017 · 404 views

Continued from my previous blog entry . A bunch of stuff happened since the last time I posted, but I haven't had enough spare time or energy to type it in. Her chemo doctor's nurse called on Thursday (Jan 26) and said that my mother's blood test showed signs that something was wrong, so they called to have an ambulance take my mom to the hospital....

There Is a Spoon and It's No Longer Bending

Posted by Random Terrain, in Personal_Stuff 27 December 2016 · 230 views

Continued from my previous blog entry . My mom has been back on half a steroid pill for almost three weeks. Some days are better than others. On the 25th (Christmas day), she used a spoon with her right hand and was able to eat without dropping it or bending the spoon the wrong way. She also used her right hand to screw on a water bottle cap without...

Please Don't Send Flowers = You're Evil! (Simulacrum of Altruism)

Posted by Random Terrain, in Personal_Stuff 27 December 2016 · 302 views

Continued from my previous blog entry . I made my mother a new Amazon wishlist in case any of her friends or family members feel like buying her something that she might need or want:

Most of her friends and family members probably won't send her anything now since they're angry that I asked them to send anything bu...

Steroids to the Rescue!

Posted by Random Terrain, in Personal_Stuff 10 December 2016 · 290 views

Continued from my previous blog entry . My mom chose to do the short version of radiation instead of dragging it out for six weeks or whatever it usually is. It would have only taken two weeks, but the Thanksgiving holiday caused the days to be stretched out into a third week. She also took a chemotherapy pill called Temozolomide the night before each...

My Mom Is Probably Going to Die Within the Next 12 Months

Posted by Random Terrain, in Personal_Stuff 25 October 2016 · 681 views

Continued from my previous blog entry . It has been confirmed that my mom has the bad stuff in her brain. We saw the radiation doctor and the other doctor that handles the special pills on Monday and my mom decided to go through with it since they said the side effects aren't as bad as what you see on TV and in the movies (and the fact that she'd probabl...

Possible Grade IV Glioma

Posted by Random Terrain, in Personal_Stuff 16 October 2016 · 406 views

Continued from my previous blog entry . My mother had two CAT scans and a special MRI on Thursday. Then she had the biopsy on Friday. The neurosurgeon said that it could take over a week to find out for sure, but based on his experience, it looks like a Grade IV glioma to him.

The neurosurgeon showed my sisters some images from the latest MRI an...
