Lots of slots

Today I began work on the slot machine portion of my casino game for Virtual Boy. And it angered me so much my eye began to hurt so I took a couple chewable bayers, and I hope that will work. What angers me though are two things: #1 - the fact that I did the same thing in a previous game and it works fine but doesn't now for some reason (new computer perhaps?), and #2 - Mednafen is a stupid emulaor that runs things perfectly but when you go test it on a real Virtual Boy it gets all screwed up.

I have been using a certain two line bit of code like a crutch and I don't even know what it does, but it seems to make things work great on real hardware, so I guess I'll have to keep doing that. I didn't use to have to, but now I do, which is odd and anger inducing.

So right now I have one reel moving very slowly. I hope to speed it up, but not today. I'm done with it for today. I also hope to add two more reels to the machine as well as a front screen to it. The dreaded corner upperleft short line I battled in Insecticide worked its way into this game as well. On the slot machine portion.

I'm not sure how slot machines work, and Wikipedia didn't explain it, except that the modern-day ones use a psuedo-random number generator. It didn't say how. I guess if they did, people would stop using them. (ha ha). While testing and playing casino games, I can see how one can get addicted to gambling. But my only time in a casino, I didn't do very much video poker and only lost a dollar. I guess I need to refire up the ol' Casino Fun Pak for Game Gear and see how it does slot machines. Or I guess I could do it on the Atari 2600. Or the Odyssey 2.
