Space Invaders
Delivering good on my promise, here's a Space Invaders review.Space Invaders+ Release: October 1997+ Company: Nintendo+ Size: 2 Megabits+ ESRB Rating: K-AThere's four choices: Upright cabinet, black & white, black & white with cellophane, and color. Upright Cabinet has a picture of land with a space background, while the others don't. At the options screen, you can change the number of lives to up to 6. Other than that and a two-player mode (where apparently two players can play at the same time) I couldn't play because I don't have anyone else to play with, it's just the same old Space Invaders. One wonders why anyone would pay for this game (back when it was new and more expensive anyway) for a game that recreates a game made in 1979. Yep, that's it. Even when you try to make the game have flashy backgrounds and colors, it still is action from 1979, only 18 years older. Also, once you pick a color mode, you're stuck with it. You can't go back. I've tried, and I found the only way to get back to the options screen is to reset the game. Luckily, the garbage that precedes the options screen (like screens that say "© Taito, 1979, 1994, 1997" etc.) don't take very long. The only way I can recommend this game is if you must have every Space Invaders game ever made. Otherwise, it's crap.rating: 2/10Up next: Arkanoid d'ohs it again (and steals Homer Simpson's catchphrase in the process.)
