Someone suggested me to install a new version of internet Explorer 10.

Some sites won't work correctly with ie 9 I have.

I just realised I can't upgrade ie because I have Vista not windows 7.

Firefox = good.

Can't let spyware in with Internet Explorer 10 or 11

fixed that for you.
