This arrived today. It didn't work at first. I had to clean the cart twice. I never had to clean a 2600 cart until now. I'm glad I was able to get it working. I took a chance buying the game because the seller said it worked when last played. But they had no console to test it on. Anyway, I like the game. I've played it before as a ROM. Now I have the physical cart. My only complaint is those darn toy planes set you back at the start of the level if they hit you. I own 2 Activision games. River Raid is on a multicart. Keystone Kapers is the only official Activision cart I have at the moment.

I count 13 enemies. That's Level 9, all right. Getting close to winning. Very impressive!

I agree that the participation level in this thread is disappointing. And probably so would be the size of the group willing to do a round robin evaluation -- then again, maybe there are a significant number of us who have not contributed to this top 100 (myself included) because we don't feel qualified due to a lack of comprehensive familiarity/experience, but would happily embrace the challenge of comparing and ranking games in a serial manner? Guess if no one happens to take up the mantle and I find enough time at some point to consider spearheading an effort, I could start with a poll to gauge interest. Would also like to hear more about any progress with the adaptive top 10 database idea.

@dabone , Is it safe to test the voltage output not under load? Center post positive or negative? Thanks for this kewl new product. Most of my TI transformers buzz because of age, and I'm sure the original PSU could do with a recap.

It is very nice art work and I even hesitated to suggest changing it up at all. Maybe just some additional stuff. More bosses or something to add from the Jag DNA.

cool, I will dig up that early score -- although in retrospect it is a little pathetic that my best performance was one of my very first attempts and, apparently, all the "skills" I have developed since are straight up trash. 💔

Would anyone be interested in working on another mega demo?

Rolling around in my head for a long time: an idea to update a little demo of mine. What kind of timeframe are we looking at? -
Most likely the rip is bad, though perhaps you could try using the latest conversion tool to see if that improves the situation.

have you tested the new version yet?

Whack 'Em Smack 'Em Byron, dev log
Jess Ragan replied to Jess Ragan's topic in ColecoVision Programming
This is as far as I'm going with Whack 'Em Smack 'Em Byrons, at least until I can figure out how to turn the vague musical concepts bouncing around in my head into actual music. I'm asking someone else for their assistance, but in the meantime... are there any music notation and transcription apps that aren't stupidly expensive and don't suck? I tried something from Klangion and its sound transcription was utterly hopeless. The songs it made out of my doot-dooting didn't resemble what I had imagined, or anything coherent. But anyway! It's a fully functioning game at this point... it just needs more music and sound effects. Also, it's hard! Either lean on the Kids' Mode or play to win with a good controller, because the stock ColecoVision controller just ain't gonna cut it. I'm playing it on my computer's keyboard during testing and even then I can just barely win. whackem_game.rom -

The game looks cool, can't wait to give it a whirl. I also love the production value of the trailer. You guys did some serious cinematography and editing just for a game trailer. Great job. 👍

He mentioned a two game cart re-release, I think that points to Centipede and Millipede on a single cart. Just a guess. Further back he also said there was another enhanced game in development too. This was around the time that the three 7800 games were announced. Hopefully this has moved along quite well and is it a lot closer now.

My favorite is using a meanwell lrs-50 and 3d printing a case for it. Other than that, most should work, just check the reviews and buy a decent quality one. The ones I send out originally were from a mini pc router my company carried for years, and were also generic Chinese psus.
