  2. Omega Race started life as a vector graphics arcade game. It was first rasterized and ported to the Vic-20, then to the Commodore 64, and finally to the Atari 2600 and the ColecoVision. The Atari 2600 version of the game came bundled with the Booster Grip controller, which allowed VCS gamers TWO controller buttons, one for "thrust" and one for "fire". The Atari 2600 version also came with 256 bytes of RAM inside the cartridge, an innovation Coleco called "RAM Plus", which tripled the paltry 128 bytes of RAM available on the console motherboard. And, it's a pretty good game, I may add. -Ben

  5. So, I guess we have AAers to blame for no Amico. We were helping build the console. I guess you get what you pay for in help! So, instead of being a super sleeper would Tommy now be considered a super worker? I didn't know playing backgammon was such pivotal work in making Amico happen. One of us! One of us! Also a lot of that money was spent on hours of posting here at AtariAge and YouTube, while not making anything.
  6. Me too. I love spyro, but won't support this type of broken game. I stay away from all the games with the blue "download required" line on the label. While pretty much any game will try to update if you hook to the internet, as of yet, none are out and out broken if they don't have the download required line. (In my experience, I'm sure some exist) Its why switch is my system of choice, they still make games sans internet, AND clearly mark broken ones. After Xbox one which required downloading every game I bought on it, I'm done with Microsoft. And ps4 worked fine, but as of yet I've not heard of any must haves on ps5 so I've not upgraded yet. Here's hoping it followed ps4 and not Xbox ones formula. I'd gladly buy spyro, if they fully released it on a card, I'd even pay extra for that, so the current one game card or digital doesn't do it for me.
  7. I’m definitely curious about the rom data on this cartridge. Especially seeing as some of the Telegames ColecoVision releases were left untouched and unmodified while others had at the very least splash and/or title screen changes done to them.
  8. If you substitute eprom for mask rom in the above statement that you made, then yes, as they are more scarce, it makes sense. But I don’t even think it would be possible to produce (let alone mass produce) a 2 Kb mask rom in the present day anyway. And likely has been the case for many years now.
  9. I quit skiing, trying to save my dodgy knees. I only ski Activision style now, well the new game too, but that's 50% animal murder.
  10. Here's a gameplay only first look at Circus Interstellar on the VCS!
  11. Looks like the winning caller was DarkLord
  12. I suspect that today it would be cheaper to use a 4k ROM and fill only half of it with game code, rather than to use a 2K ROM, because of the much smaller supply for 2K ROMs. -Ben
  13. How did they get your picture! 😄 your Mountain Man and I’m Tom Cruise! Lol
  14. That's a pretty nice jigsaw puzzle. As soon as it hits my local thrift store, I'll be sure to pick one up. Here's another nice gift for the collector, an Atari 2600 you can build out of Legos -Ben
