  1. Past hour
  2. According to this site, the game was released in August 1982 - https://www.randomterrain.com/atari-2600-memories-history-1982.html#donkey_kong It was even released earlier but had to be recalled because carts didn't work on the 6 switch models. So they had plenty of time to have the cartridge on the market and could have gone with 8K and a few more months of development.
  3. New PPEB firmwares to test, mainly for @wiloson but also @chue and @RickyDean too. These are the 2MB SAMS and 8MB SAMS versions (8MB only for use on the v3 board, or piggybacked mod) but both are running at 250MHz and one NOP. You can now change the settings for these in autoload.cfg to increase them using a line saying "MHZ=252" up to 280, and "NOPS=2" up to 9. I've also cleaned up the speech PWM to use 32KHz refreshes instead of 16KHz (I'm far too old to hear 16KHz, but there was some 16KHz noise in test-recordings I had made in Audacity, and they are gone now - your pets and/or grandkids will be grateful). 4. I actually lost some progress earlier when I busted a FOR/NEXT loop, couldn't find the damn thing, and had to restart from a way too old back up copy. Ugh. UGGGGGH. But now has arrived the MYSTERY BYRON! Whack him with the PEEK-0 hammer for a bonus, higher than all other bonuses in the game and perhaps even double that. And gaze in awe at his iridescent green BONUS! sign! It looks nice... the VDP has some gross colors but it comes through on the shades of green. Next? Bombs! Hit them and be blown sky high! (But the program is already the size of many ColecoVision games and it's only 75% finished. I might not be able to make it as explicit as I wanted. I don't know what the overhead is on the compiler. These games go up to 32K, right, Nanochess? Is bank switching a concern, or is that handled auto-magically? whackem_game.rom
  5. Now tcp support is in it's a pretty good time to update your tnfs server if you have one, especially if it's public.
  6. Hello and welcome! The Sandisk card should be fine and good choice. I've also used "Microcenter" cards from Amazon with very few problems. I guess the mostl likely issue is you may not have re-formatted the card as a FAT32 filessytem? Most cards come out of the box formatted NTFS, but the Flashbacks won't recognize anything but FAT32.
  7. Nintendo only changed the name of the Ultra N64 to the Nintendo 64. Dolphin and Revolution were code names and were never intended as definitive names. I know, it's technical. I just hate when a "4" or a "5" appears alone on the following line in a text, so I insert a non-breaking space BEFORE the number, which requires to select the space and type Alt+255 (on Windows at least). The point is to avoid this for instance: blah blah blah blah PlayStation 4 blah blah blah blah and get this instead: blah blah blah blah PlayStation 4 blah blah blah blah And in languages like French, we also have the same problem with punctuation, since we type spaces before quotes, colons, exclamation points, etc.
  8. If you know how hardware works in great detail, yes. If you don't, no one seems to have constructed a suitable metaphor such that it can be communicated in a manner that results in a consensus, but that shouldn't prevent anyone from discussing it vociferously if the past 30 years of forum content are an indicator.
  9. i wrote it on other topic but here is most relevant. its based on tchak909 and monsoft work before. Monsoft one was that i used to use before. I made a container version for x86 of TNFS server that support TCP. In case that anyone (besides me) want to use it on home lab server or NAS appliance. It's small - around 6MB container. https://hub.docker.com/r/zaqu/tnfs-tcp
  10. Your C5 and C6 are physically smaller than the populated board @Stephen has shown. Both look quite usable however. What will you use for a case? I found from experience that open boards can be damaged from above when random things fall on them!
  11. Search for Gribnif. https://gribnif.github.io/ Neodesk is a great desktop environment.
  12. Today
  13. That would also explain "VDP library", that would pair nicely with GROM library.
  14. I agree. It's probably not worth messing about. TOS 1.04 is probably the best Atari option for a Mega ST as they originally came with TOS 1.00. EmuTOS is more recent and still an option for you if you want to experiment.
  15. There are these sorts of color changes too (games with more than 16 colors)...
  16. Good to have a spare! I'll be honest, I've got two also. You can't have too many retro consoles I say
  17. Could be they were considering something along the lines of GROM banking - every four bytes accessing a different bank of GROM. The same is feasible with the VDP for up to 256 VDPs in the current reserved space. That's what I want to see, Gary. The issue with the banking is the same as for the GROMs, it's not fully decoded on the motherboard, so you have to add the hardware to split up the address space. Not too complex for a few though.
  18. Maybe he's referring to these sorts of colour changes
  19. There was some old discussion about this font stuff before: Also the official reason why small caps exist at least in the typeface world is shown below in this screenshot: As for why TI uses small caps, I think it's mainly from their earlier days of being a calculator company before they got into computers, and small caps is used very often in displaying math formulas and looks better when screens were originally just one line led displays also.
  20. Hello You are referring to using tricks to overcome the colour limitation at a given resolution. In the last month or so I have gone through hundreds of games in my emulator and I have to say, the vast and overwhelming majority don't look like they have more than 16 colors. They don't look like they have 16 colors.
  21. Forgot to tell you that since v0.4.4 I've a bad glitch sound for half a sec at the start of my game for SG-1000 (Fullsex (US) - The Game).
  22. That flea has potential Garfield. :D

  23. Can't seem to find a download link?
  24. https://www.freepascal.org/download.html few target CPUs supported by FPC ?
  25. Hi guys, So what are the best fighting stages in history. Some are from SNK. Anthony..
  26. Sorry, I don't make it a habit to read some random noob's past threads, and well that makes you even more weird. What platforms were those games released on?
  27. I think part of the difficulty with this image is that the area where the flame is creates an ambient effect that results in a lot of colors. The target image actually looks good. Your output image is pretty good too; but I'm guessing you'd need to leave this one run for quite a while to get a lot of the details from the destination image. I might make an attempt at this one; but I'll probably severely downsample the colors (as I normally do) and lose quite a bit of the ambient flame effect (hopefully not too much). Might be interesting to see what else can be done with it, though.
