  2. Right, I'm not sure how it was altered - I had no PBI/SIO cables connected (during this) - just SUBCART (and I'm not knowledgeable enough to know how it may/not function differently than AVGCART). If you think something about my particular mainboard/hardware (I'm sure mine is a typical late version) might elucidate anything, happy to run a test/provide info/photos. Got it - do you mean what pops up literally after just launching SDX? I'll bring it up tonight and observe and get a photo. Ok, yeah it seems pretty easy to mis-infer that part, but I can see why it was included. What does your DOS work with? (are you still maintaining/using it?). Thanks for the patience, I'm at the tip of this and can only imagine having to hold those technical threads together to create or troubleshoot. But it's motivating to see what people do/have done. Which firmware? (I should know by now)
  3. Rev 7 board almost done. Just got to solder on the 34 PIN connector and testing to start. Fingers crossed. Thanks @Dropcheck for the replacement board. Really appreciate it! '
  4. Obviously did so, but thought to find more honestly. The js99er tip already proved to be working better.
  5. Thank you, that was a great remembrance of the Atari 2600 Omega Race port w/ RAM Plus and Booster Grip! Sorry for any confusion, Mr. Ben, this list is intended to just be for other home consoles (Intellivision, etc.) and home computers (Atari 400/800, C64, etc.) ports to Atari 2600. The list for Atari 2600 arcade ports (since it's so long) has a thread of its own here. (And if you download the spreadsheet and look on Tab 2, you will see that Omega Race is on the list.) Thank you again for your comment.
  6. When I build another firmware, I'll make an option in the config file to turn this off (and make it passive when on - so it doesn't clash with the RS232 card).
  7. But now that I think about it, we still need this thread to keep the discussion active. (And also to serve as a permanent record.) So, here is a copy of the most recent version of the list that you can download. Atari 2600 Home Arcade List.xlsx We are perfecting our list of home versions of arcade games for Atari 2600. Are there any games that should be added to this list? Any errors or omissions? Discussion is welcome. Please post your comments, below!
  8. SAMS burn-in passed. Just one question, what is a Digi-Port? My google-fu didn’t give good results.
  9. I would love to see a re-release of Midnight Mutants. It is almost impossible to find. Thanks!
  10. Well, but it is done in hi-res, just the main character - as a hardware sprite - is not.
  11. no..problem..v1.10 works fine with NTSC now
  12. Video of gameplay just listed on Atarionline.pl I've seen this clever engine before, with the inverse flipping between the black and white on screen. Love it. Ah yes, Flob and it's upside down flip engine, (which is a similar mechanic, but different to Shift's inverse engine), is one of the best games on the A8. One thing - given this is 2 tone colour, I wonder why it wasn't done in gr8 hi res, with the main character highly animated? Given there is no colour, it seems idea to do gr8. Edit: ah, actually on closer inspection is it gr8 already, but with just the main character in a lower res? I am viewing on my mobile. Can't wait to boot this up on my 600xl test rig, (currently tbe only A8 I have that isn't in bits being tinkered with, or missing chips Heh Heh! 😁
  13. Omega Race started life as a vector graphics arcade game. It was first rasterized and ported to the Vic-20, then to the Commodore 64, and finally to the Atari 2600 and the ColecoVision. The Atari 2600 version of the game came bundled with the Booster Grip controller, which allowed VCS gamers TWO controller buttons, one for "thrust" and one for "fire". The Atari 2600 version also came with 256 bytes of RAM inside the cartridge, an innovation Coleco called "RAM Plus", which tripled the paltry 128 bytes of RAM available on the console motherboard. And, it's a pretty good game, I may add. -Ben

  16. So, I guess we have AAers to blame for no Amico. We were helping build the console. I guess you get what you pay for in help! So, instead of being a super sleeper would Tommy now be considered a super worker? I didn't know playing backgammon was such pivotal work in making Amico happen. One of us! One of us! Also a lot of that money was spent on hours of posting here at AtariAge and YouTube, while not making anything.
  17. Me too. I love spyro, but won't support this type of broken game. I stay away from all the games with the blue "download required" line on the label. While pretty much any game will try to update if you hook to the internet, as of yet, none are out and out broken if they don't have the download required line. (In my experience, I'm sure some exist) Its why switch is my system of choice, they still make games sans internet, AND clearly mark broken ones. After Xbox one which required downloading every game I bought on it, I'm done with Microsoft. And ps4 worked fine, but as of yet I've not heard of any must haves on ps5 so I've not upgraded yet. Here's hoping it followed ps4 and not Xbox ones formula. I'd gladly buy spyro, if they fully released it on a card, I'd even pay extra for that, so the current one game card or digital doesn't do it for me.
  18. I’m definitely curious about the rom data on this cartridge. Especially seeing as some of the Telegames ColecoVision releases were left untouched and unmodified while others had at the very least splash and/or title screen changes done to them.
  19. And that's also crap by Sony and inexcusable. Doesn't change anything.
  20. If you substitute eprom for mask rom in the above statement that you made, then yes, as they are more scarce, it makes sense. But I don’t even think it would be possible to produce (let alone mass produce) a 2 Kb mask rom in the present day anyway. And likely has been the case for many years now.
  21. I quit skiing, trying to save my dodgy knees. I only ski Activision style now, well the new game too, but that's 50% animal murder.
