chris_lynx1989
No. That that is the original German board they used on their Lynx games in the earlier 90s.They went to the ICD board in '96/'97 (Fat Bobby/Raiden) and another in '99 (Hyperdrome) and then to the Songbird board in '03 (Checkered Flag re-release and etc.) till '05/'06 (or so?) when Telegames stopped Lynx support. bentper2
what is the checkered flag re release?
chris_lynx1989
As Telegames bought the rights to many (most/all?) of the released (unreleased too?) Lynx games they could make more, and so they did in '03. They re-released Checkered Flag,Zarlor Mercenary and Hyperdrome,to my recollection. It may've been up to 6 or so total, with Raiden,Fat Bobby and Super Off Road included. What was "Checkered Flag Re-release"?Same game as all the other re-releases were as originally released by Atari or Telegames except,on a new board and chip and usually in a CD case. Help any? bentper2
ok so they did not improve the game? what about Zarlor Mercenary did they make an updated version?
chris_lynx1989
ok so they did not improve the game? what about Zarlor Mercenary did they make an updated version? No,no game update or improvement.Just a more modern looking chip, board and CD case instead of a Lynx box. Same goes for Zarlor Mercenary, just cosmetic changes, other re-releases were all the same way. Atari Smeghead
Is this the only cartridge version? http://www.atariage....areLabelID=2013 Thanks! Technically, you won't find ANY Krazy Ace carts that look like the one in the picture. Allow me to explain... A couple of years ago, we did a "Definitive Cart Variation List" (which you can find here... ) http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/141573-the-definitive-lynx-cart-variation-list/ We came to the conclusion that we can only confirm one style of cart, and that one has a big plastic cover over the top of the chip. (Scroll down about half way on page one of the provided link to see it.) The one in the AA picture WAS one of those, but someone removed the cover. We believe there is a black PCB version, but during the lifespan of the thread, no one ever came forth saying they had one. Chris, did you ever participate in that thread? Seems like you would be a wealth of information on such a topic. Cheers, Smeg
EricDeLee
Chris has a VAST amount of knowledge. As long as he plays well with others (which I am sure he can do) It would be great if he did contribute on that thread. Although...I don't think any of us have seen a single picture from his collection over the years. I'm sure he has a great collection...share your knowledge with others . Could be a great contribution to the community
chris_lynx1989
Being an only child,I didn't always fit into groups well... So I got really good at pinball and video arcade games and then handhelds and home consoles. Handhelds have been my passion since 1978 -- Lynx,Game Boy,Game Gear,Nomad,Turbo Express,Game Boy Color,Neo Geo Pocket Color,Game Boy Advance,PSP 1001/2001/3001/Go and now PS Vita. I may look that Lynx Cartridge Variation List over for kicks, not sure if I ever did or contributed to it before... EricDeLee
Chris... you are a pinball nut too? That's cool... I didn't know that. Do you have any pinballs at your house? I only have one right now but plan to get another one soon.

Check out this thread where I posted a picture of it: http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/139277-going-for-the-cib-lynx-game-collection/page__view__findpost__p__2076190 I didn't know it was rare or anything orI would have mentioned it earlier. They do exist! Thank you very much for pointing it out. I'm assuming that the black PCB you have there is the style that has the small square chip sticking out the back, am I right? (It looks similar to some of the other Telegames titles from that era, with the gold screws on the top.) I'm going to head over to that thread now and made the addition to the master list. Maybe you could also pop over there and see if you own anything else that we missed? IIRC I bought this when Telegames USA was having those Name Your Price sales. I'm not sure if I have anything else interesting. All my Telegames releases are those Black PCBs IIRC. Are you missing any more of those? BTW I HATE those labels. If they rub together the ink starts to rub off, as you can see in that picture. I have a few games like this where the labels look dirty because of this.

From what I can see, I have all the other black PCB variants of the Telegames releases (though someone mentioned the possibility of a black PCB Checkered Flag and Lynx Casino, but no visual confirmation). If you have a minute, perhaps you ca peruse the big list and see if anything jumps out at you. In that other thread, you said, "Now I'm sure I have the full color label for Super Off Road." Are you referring to the curved lip cart, or a black PCB? I don't show a black PCB for that one, only the curved lip and a green PCB. I guess that's enough thread-hijacking for me. And yeah, those black-ink labels sure are cheap-looking. How much more could it have cost them to spring for the color labels? bentper2
Would be awesome with more new lynx games. I still think the Lynx is the best handheld ever!

chris_lynx1989
Not sure if I've ever seen a curved lip Super Off Road... They probably made them too,as I have a curved lip Desert Strike and they made EPROM carts of it with the first run of them in '93.I'm thinking they may've had an EPROM release of QIX first too. It took me a while to get one of those, but I got one in my collection. At the time, I didn't realize it was hard to come by. I've had mine for years. Oh, and the Definitive List has several variants of Desert Strike, but we've not confirmed any other Qix style except the regular curved lip.
