Is anyone else concerned about copies?

Plenty of people out there don't know it's available from the AA store, or that the AA store even exists. Modern gamers or even casual Atari fans who don't know about homebrews might see this and believe it really is some rare one-off.

Looks like he's added some new ones. Anyone have any idea what this one might be?

Racer is a prototype, Wonder007 bought for big money, we released boxed versions of it many years ago. There was a label contest you can find somewhere in the forums.

he told me that he bought Wall Jump Ninja at a convention in Ohio. If this is the case, I know who is making many of the games he is selling (there are actually two parties, but I'm talking about the guy in Ohio). Given he's listed some titles more than once (after they have been sold), I suspect he's going to continue replenishing any games that sell.

If this is the case, that he's reselling games be bought from another dealer, it would go a long way towards explaining his attitude. I'd be pretty angry if I was accused of pirating games if I thought what I was selling was legit.

He's not innocently buying these from another dealer thinking that they are legit. Think of it as more of a partnership. The supplier is more well known and has a decent reputation so lets this guy do the selling. At least, that's my theory based on my observations at a convention in Ohio.

You left out the part where I qualified it with "if his story can be believed." I don't think for a second this guy is innocent, but I do think he's done as much as he can to give himself plausible deniability. Sort of like one kid taking money from mom's purse and giving it to his brother. When she asks about the money, one says "I don't have it" and the other says "I didn't take it." Neither one is lying, but neither one is innocent either.

Plus, I was looking at the wall of games picture he includes with every auction and Galactopus is like the only homebrew he doesn't own, so why on earth would I be defending him?

I wasn't trying to imply that you were defending him. Just adding that I'm certain he's aware of what he's selling. He's good friends with his Ohio connection. I apologize if I inadvertently offended you. It wasn't my intention.

Not offended. Just clarifying.

He knows what he's doing. Take a look at this auction being sold with his second (and much older) eBay account:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Atari-2600-7800-Steroid-Pitfall-Home-Brew-/272242463707?hash=item3f62ea53db:g:kwkAAOSwdV1XNogr&autorefresh=true

From the auction description,

All best offers will be given the chance to run for 48 hours as this is the only 1 of these i have & i want all to get the chance at this 1!!!

And here's one of the photos from the auction:

I'm not a fan of these either :)

Recreating materials, even if using different box types, etc. Same concern. They'll jump to identical copies..

That's one of the reasons why their should be Atariage watermarks on the box, cart, and manual scans in the database.

The seller is at it again:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Atari-2600-7800-Pressure-Gauge-w-box-Manual-Homebrew-/201608018855?

I immediately logged in and reported it as an unauthorized reproduction this morning that I own the rights to.

However, when I did it last time, I'm not sure anything happened.

$119 is a rip off. Hoping this seller at least pulls this one listing.

I am not sure how many of you collect Brazilian carts but here's a heads-up: there's a market for reprint labels of those carts.

The 4-in-1 are easy to spot, originally it was a generic label with a sticker with the games attached in it - The reprint have it all printed together.

Polyvox ones might be harder. The very first series had a silver-ish look that might be hard to reproduce, much like Spectravideo carts. The latter ones are plain and easy to duplicate. I guess the best way to sort them apart is the corners - original ones are round.

CCE carts are a pain. The original ones do NOT have round corners so they might be impossible to tell on a distance. And since it seems that CCE Color Labels are sought after by some I'd probably be extra careful. My best guess is, if it seems too well preserved to be true, then probably it's not.

I just hate this. :(

So it begins..

The price is the first red flag.

Small note that this is "novelty".

Then slowly we'll see that disappear. He makes it sounds legit now. Isn't he the one making them.
