8. TG-16/PC Engine (189)

9. Arcade (128)

10. Atari 7800 (119)

Week 14 sees another strong performance from The Lawnmower Man, which is now our #3 game all-time, and our #1 game this week. Right behind it is homebrew gem Hunchy II for Atari 2600, which takes the pre-NES title and leads the VCS to #1 on the system charts -- just ahead of an exceedingly close contest (only 1 minute separating them!) between the TI-99/4A and SNES, or really between the TI-99/4A and The Lawnmower Man, which the TI wins by a whisker.

Meanwhile, 1000-minute club member #277 has arrived in the form of Alien Trilogy for PlayStation, with 1087 minutes of xenomorphic action logged to date.

I compiled a list a few years ago, which I updated to reflect the latest weeks. The number of games in week 1 of 2010 is based on what was listed, not in a summary IIRC.

Top list

213 games (Week 42, 2015)
185 games (Week 44, 2016)
183 games (Week 43, 2015)
151 games (Week 1, 2010)
124 games (Week 30, 2016)
121 games (Week 15, 2016)
115 games (Week 45, 2016)
114 games (Week 9, 2016)
114 games (Week 52, 2016)
113 games (Week 28, 2015)
111 games (Week 39, 2015)
109 games (Week 35, 2015)
Thus 94 are a lot of games, but nowhere near the top 5 weeks.
Average number of games per week
2015: 64.73 games
2016: 78.83 games
2017: 71.71 games (up to week 14)

Hey, thanks -- that's very helpful! I thought I'd done something similar at some point but if I did, I can't seem to find it now. :)

I cross compared the list of most games with the list of most minutes, based on the posted stats from the beginning of the year and amended with the results this year. For those who are curious, exactly 2 weeks appear on both lists:

Week 35, 2015 which featured 13011 minutes (#1) and 109 games (#12)

Week 43, 2015 which featured 10140 minutes (#5) and 183 games (#3)

While 2016 holds six positions on the list of most games, it only has one spot on the list of most minutes so last year really was a year of testing different games, while we're now to a larger degree are back to playing the truly good games for longer periods of time. Perhaps the tracker just left puberty and is going into young adulthood?

Atari 2600

Jawbreaker: 10 min

Journey Escape: 3 min

Plaque Attack: 13 min

Space Jockey: 5 min

Tooth Protectors: 8 min

Towering Inferno: 7 min

Word Zapper: 3 min

Atari 7800

Asteroids: 4 min

Galaga: 11 min

Ninja Golf: 18 min

Mostly due to some time at home caused by a nasty cold, I at least found time to test some new items in my collection. Weirdest of these would be Ninja Golf. Since it's a bit of a pain to set up the 7800, I took the opportunity to play a round of Galaga as well.

In other news, I visited a flea market early today, and man, what's up with sellers recently? I saw two Atari Jr's, each bundled with a makeshift RF cable, two supercommon cart-only games and one basic Quickshot joystick. No original controllers, no original rf cable, and no power supply at all. Seller's price: 35 Euro per package. What the frick? Even on ebay, I can get at least two packages like this with a bit of patience - and that's with shipping.

Played some games this week, but nothing eligible. Game I played the most is actually Lego Marvel Super Heroes or something like that. My son has it for the 360 and I downloaded it on my Xbox One. It's mindless collectathon with easy puzzles like all the Lego games, but sometimes, that just what you need. So anyway, nothing for this thread this week, but going to some garage sales tomorrow, so maybe something for the Thrift Finds thread. Happy gaming everyone!

Well, we actually spent a good majority of the day at mom's house for dinner and such. But this afternoon, evening, and early morning (as it's 1:30 AM now) I have not turned off Tunnels of Doom. The game is so flexible and it is different every time you play it.

This particular time, when I descended from the upper level, I got into two rooms consecutively with gold pieces. For those of you who know the game, that rarely happens... the reason it was so important was that I could immediately re-ascend to the upper level, go to the store, upgrade all 4 characters' weapons and armor, and stock up on rations before ever really exploring the first lower level. Definitely nice to have that happen every once in a while. :)

Anyway, a photo, and an additional time.

Here are my times for this past week (April 10th through 16th)...

Arcade:

Astro Blaster - 13 min.

Bosconian - 69 min. in 4 sessions

Buck Rogers - Planet of Zoom - 23 min.

Journey - 29 min.

Super Pac-Man - 64 min. in 3 sessions

Atari 2600:

Buck Rogers - Planet of Zoom - 46 min. in 2 sessions

Centipede - 11 min.

Crystal Castles - 9 min.

Colecovision:

Tapper - 26 min.

Online (non-eligible):

Demonrift TD - 23 min.

Rullo - 3 min.

Spar Eierlauf - 8 min.

St. Pattack - 12 min.

Theme Hotel - 117 min.

Vector Runner - 2 min.

I had this week off from work, so I tried quite a few games. I continued playing "Buck Rogers" on the Atari 2600 and managed to roll the score. After having done that, I also tried the arcade version, but it's rather chaotic.

Then I had a go at Super Pac-Man after watching some Youtube videos of various ports of it. I managed to reach my goal of 100,000 points, which is when you get the 2nd extra life.

On "Bosconian", I never could get past a certain level where the enemy bases are arranged like a question mark.

Then I replayed "Centipede" on the Atari 2600 after having played "Millipede" last week. And I tried the Atari 2600 version of "Crystal Castles"; but couldn't get very far in it.

Then I played "Astro Blaster", a pretty difficult game I remember from way back then. Here the game can end in various ways, either by losing all ships or by running out of fuel (the fuel isn't replenished if you get another ship!). I remember that back in the day, I recorded a parody song about that game with the lyrics "Spaceship didn't feel well, thus it exploded" because there are so many ways you can mess up in this game.

While playing the arcade game "Journey" I listened to a Youtube video of a tribute concert to Sib Hashian who was drummer at the band Boston, but collapsed on stage and died on a cruise ship on March 22nd. The concert was played by various bands participating in this cruise, and there were also two Journey songs played, "Seperate Ways" and "Don't stop believin'".

Then I replayed Tapper on the Colecovision. The whole session was one pretty long game, and at the end of it the game became pretty much impossible to win another level.

Lastly, this week I tried various online games, most of them on Kongregate. "Demonrift TD" is at its heart a Tower Defense game, while Theme Hotel, the game I spent the most time with, lets you build a hotel and raise it to 5-star status. St. Pattack is a fighting game based on St. Patricks day. in Vector Runner, you run along a course made of vector lines, collecting certain blobs and avoiding obstacles.

Spar Eierlauf is a game by the food chain Spar where you look for Easter nests and click as many of them over the course of 90 seconds. Each nest contains a food product, and clicking on some of them leads you to trivia questions which give you 10 more seconds on correctly answering them.

Rullo is sort of a puzzle game where you have to reach a given number in each row and column by removing the right combination of number discs from the equation.
