Cousin Vinnie
What am I looking at here? I cant find an image that matches this on the internet
StopDrop&Retro
Bootleg. Since when has Nintendo made carts in Malaysia? It also looks like the label is just a little too big for the cart. The artwork also looks like it was flattened slightly. What's up with the right screw? The biggest giveaway by far though is that it says "Licensed by Nintendo" which makes no sense. Nintendo made Super Mario World, so why would they need to license it to themselves? If you look at official first party box art it doesn't have "Licensed by" on it (or it will just say "Only on Nintendo") but on 3rd party games it says licensed by Nintendo because they approved that outside company to produce a game that is compatible with their system. It's like how you don't see Honda cars with badges that say "Licensed by Honda" but the dealership is "a licensed Honda dealer." Honda made the car so it just says "Honda" but they don't own the dealership so they come to an agreement with the dealership owner and they become a "licensed" Honda dealer. Kismet
That is a counterfeit (bootleg/repro) , open it up if you have a screwdriver for it and check what it has for a PCB.
CatPix
Is that even Super Mario World on it? Edited November 13, 2017 by CatPix
0078265317
Probably a repo. Tanooki
Probably? That's as fake as it comes. The game is so well documented it's fairly easy to find what the various versions of the games sticker looks like from 1991 to the end. tbb033
Why would someone feel the need to bootleg (poorly) one of the best selling, least rare games on a system? Wouldn't virtually everyone already have a legit copy? Weird.
pacman000
It could be a contemporary bootleg, from when the game was new.

For a pack in it has held value amazingly, but then it is an amazing game.
Tanooki
I like that idea of a contemporary. You know back in the day people did sheisty stuff with rental copies of games. It's not beyond reasoning to think someone did the old melt the Bic pen frame to make a ghetto bit, then swapped out a $1 sports game board, and returned the non-Mario game. Then you just take your sports game case, remove the sticker, get a color deskjet of the period or sometime after, make up a sticker using some cheap or warezed art program and print it up on label paper. It's not entirely implausible someone would do that because if you bought a SNES back then years into it, you didn't get SMW and Nintendo until very late kept it at $50 for years. $5 rental, garage sale dollar sports game, existing printer basic skills and some sticker paper and you're in business.
