icemanxp300
Ok I nabbed this stuff a year or so ago from Goodwill I believe. I have no way of testing anything and some seem to be either missing cartridge or missing cassette. At any rate one would like to think the boxes alone would be worth something. I know most probably are not worth $5 but The big spelling module and Tunnels of Doom seem to maybe carry some value. I think the adventure game may be mixed up. The cassette says pirate adventure but the cartridge says adventure. Is this stuff even worth selling. I just obsessively hoard anything I see that is video game related but I have way too much stuff and stuff like this is not really my realm of collection and it just sits in a pile. ... SignGuy81
Why does TI software come with a tape and a cartridge? Like this https://www.ebay.com/itm/25-Wire-Spade-Fork-Connector-Blue-Vinyl-Terminal-10-Car-Audio-Speaker-Amp-New/201103574270?hash=item2ed2b504fe:g:Ko8AAMXQpPhTkida one for Tunnel of Doom which has a disk and a cartridge. Is it the same thing but one on a tape/disk and the other on a cartridge or is it different material on each?
+OLD CS1
The cartridge is the framework and the tapes or disks hold the individual game modules.
Opry99er
The cartridge is the module... some games or programs were cart only. Some, however, gave you the option of loading and saving. Since the carts were ROM or GROM, you needed a different media for storage. Adventure (as iceman pointed out) has multiple games that can be played using the Adventure module. Tunnels of Doom is the same way. Sometimes you would get a diskette with your cart, sometimes cassette. Most games though, like Parsec and Alpiner, didnt require anything other than the cartridge.

icemanxp300
I might as well post this too. I wasn't going to bother as I assumed it is just some homemade tape but why not. It came w/the lot when I got it. ...]

icemanxp300
Cool! Id love to know whats on that. Yeah me too, would it play in a normal cassette player?
Opry99er
Sure would. If it is a program, it will sound like a fax machine.
+Ksarul
It is a program tape for a MODICON Programmable Logic Controller. It is probably a set of configuration settings or a system test tape. It is a great thing to have if you like to play with MODBUS and old ICS/SCADA systems. MODBUS actually originated with MODICON. icemanxp300
I have decided these items would be better suited in a museum setting, they are not what I really collect. I have reached out to the Strong National Museum of Play. It is only 30 minutes away from me. More so it would be the ICHEG "International Center for the History of Electronic Games". They have already said they would like my donation. I just have to take them up to them now. If you have never been there, it is pretty sweet. We had a membership there in 2016. They have tons of arcades and lots of stuff from all systems. That's just the game exhibit. They have an entire bottom floor dedicated to kids activities. Train rides, sesame street exhibit, a big plane kids can climb in, and so on.
20ohm20
I've seen Modicon tapes like those before. A customer of mine had ladder logic on one for a really old pre-384 Modicon PLC that they were "migrating" to Allen Bradley SLC500.
