+davidcalgary29
Does anyone have the Sidewriter "auxiliary" keyboard? I'd be curious to hear about the keyboard "feel".
Curt Vendel
The Sidewriter was a nice idea, what you did was: Open the 400/800 and inside a "Y" header onto the keyboard connector of the 400/800, then run the extension cable out of the 400/800 case. Now plug the SideWriter into it and your all set, the keyboards used the same Mitsumi mechs so the feel was nearly the same as the 800 keyboard. Goochman
What was th purpose of this? Any pictures of this keyboard?
Callipygous
It was to replace the 400 membrane KB. I don't know why you would use it on an 800.
Bryan
Wow, I bet it cost as much as getting the 800 in the first place (when added to the cost of the 400, that is...). -Bry
Callipygous
Yes, too expensive. Don't really remember how much. The B-Key product came along for $50. I am guessing B-Key put Sidewriter out of business. You could get a 400 + Bkey + a 48K upgrade for a reasonable price.
deathtrappomegranate
That pic looks spookily like a C64.
Bryan
I could make a joke about a keyboard in a box being more useful than a 64, but I'm not like that. | -Bry
