so i signed up for facebook and made a post saying mark zuckerberg has some parallels to lex luthor..  then an hour later almost i find out my account is restricted..  I didn't mean to insult facebook!  i just wanted to hang out with my fellow Seventies kin..  apolitical..
      1. Bakasama

Ha, it's too bad we live in a highly polarized political age.  Things seem to make sense back in the 80's.
      2. 7800Knight

        You're not wrong about Zuckerberg.

        Lex Luthor is warm-blooded, though...
      4. Giles N

Don’t you think that’s being a tiny bit harsh towards FB? After all they did many, many hours of extra work just to make sure they defined appropriately your account as being worthy of being restricted, and remember that they did that additional, novel paperwork for your own safety. Actually you owe FB a big ‘I’m sorry’ and then you should promise to comply to everything FB says or wishes without any further questions or negative/incorrect attitudes from now on. Don’t you see how they tried (I’m shedding tears as I write this) to protect you from your errant cognitive patterns, how they came to your resque to bring you back to your senses…? You went way beyond normality and now you’ve been re-schooled (for free!) and have finally been brought back to thinking like them again! From now on, just remember to think like FB’s policies, then you’ll be safe, nothing will happen.

    • The amount of lies he spouts there is just funny. He got caught with having a Haters folder on his desktop. The job posting specifically said to help get the console UI and OS running. It didn't mention accessories, and that statement is even worse now knowing the console wasn't complete in 2021. His real info isn't real.   Pat said there was a split behind the scenes. A group that was tired of Tommy and one that wasn't. It was pretty obvious to anyone not star struck that he was floundering and full of it.   He freaked out over things people said when in reality it was way worse than what those people were even saying. That was probably the marketing team as they were pulling a paycheck but couldn't even review videos that used the incorrect Peak. I mean there were a lot of people pulling a paycheck to sit around play game demos and drink beer.
    • Oh man...yeah, @BassGuitari might be correct now....   Bummer, even though I really have no skin in this game I still feel like I was just on "press your luck" and just got hit with my 4th whammy haha.    I don't know, not being plastic kind of torpedoed all of my excitement away... I think at this point you would need some VERY solid proof to really have anyone believe it's not just a fan made poster...since there is a good chance that is what you have. Yeah, it might not have been super easy or cheap to make a poster back in 1999 but it definitely wasn't impossible or completely un-affordable...and I do believe you and all but just "saying" you acquired it 20+ years ago probably won't carry much weight either if you were to try and sell it. I think at best it hung in a video game store or something, but I'm really having doubts atari made it now since it's not plastic. That was what really made me think "this was NOT cheap to make and has to be something"    Acquiring it from Mike Etler is kind of something though (although he did say a lot of "fanmade" atari stuff was passed around too when you contacted him) Bummer he doesn't specifically remember where it was from. That guy has been in the collecting scene a LONG time. I was aware of him even before I was a member here. IIRC he had the first "NES rarity" list. I still remember he had Qix as an "A-" (which was considered really rare) and I was so stoked that I found one in the wild. Flash forward to today and it's not that rare but still, was pretty cool at the time haha   Anyways, if you are able to find anything else out keep us posted
    • Makes me think of this video..."Dude, you have a shit bucket!"      Maybe Tommy had a shit bucket    I put countless hours into Battlefield 4 and the Battlefield series franchise...tons of great memories.
    • I think you need a special cable if you're using an 850 or compatible like the ICD.  It'd be a CX87 compatible (or original) cable.
    • Hi everyone! I’ve been reading these forums for a while, and loving my 2600+, but I finally signed up just to say: Gauntlet! Would love a 2600+ version. Dark Chambers 2600 is another game I’d buy.
    • You are on Linux, right? Assuming you are on Debian or derivative (Ubuntu, Linux Mint), have you tried apt install cpmtools ? That's how I copy files to and from CP/M images all the time and prepend the ATR header to mount them in an emulator.   That's really strange, because after the conin() it should print ABORTED if you don't type y or Y, and then it goes into a for loop, looping over all the directory sectors, which does a cpm_read (BIOS call), which if it returns 1, prints another error, and exits. If no error, it goes on to handle the read sector (handle_dir()) but up to this point it should have read one sector, but apparently it doesn't.   To rule out copy problems, I attached an atari1090ed CP/M disk with both files already in them. Note that this is a CP/M disk, so boot from A, dos2tools.atr as drive B:, and check B:dos2dir (select drive C) with your DOS 2.x disk in drive C.   No, nothing is. Drive letters and file names are all converted to uppercase before processing occurs. You can specify "foo.bar", but also "*.*" to copy everything all at once.   Here's how I created dos2tools.atr with cpmtools:   dd if=/dev/zero of=cpmfs.img bs=128 count=1040 mkfs.cpm -f atari1090ed cpmfs.img cpmcp -f atari1090ed cpmfs.img dos2dir.com dos2copy.com 0: cpmls -f atari1090ed cpmfs.img cat atrheader.dat cpmfs.img > dos2tools.atr   With the following diskdefs file: diskdef atari1090ed seclen 128 tracks 40 sectrk 26 blocksize 1024 maxdir 64 boottrk 3 os 2.2 end   atrheader.dat is just the first 16 bytes of an ED atr file. dd if=someEDatrfile.atr of=atrheader bs=1 count=16 dos2tools.atr
    • After a forced break due to health (2 strokes) I'm trying to get going with my Atari 800 again but my memory isn't want it once was. So..800 with a P:R: Connection, using Express 850, won't command a modem, I tried 3 dif modems known to work on a PC, but  look like the DRT line is not coming on so no dialing ect.  bad PR or cable is all that I can think of or just doing or forgetting to do something?   modems tried: Zoom 2400 v.42 SuperFaxModem 14.4 USER 56K
    • They are DPC+ sprites, and they are 2 sprites next to each other.
    • The only desperate one was Tommy himself sitting behind the computer being a keyboard warrior (instead of actually working) and his employee who was in charge of wiping his butt when he couldn't use the toilet called in sick.
