Inflation! The number one cause of inflation is rising wages! Ex: Target now pays $21.00 / hour up from $12.00 / hour. How does Target make that up? Go out back and plant a new money tree or raise prices? California gave fast food workers a big raise and now everyone is complaining that hamburgers now cost more! DUH!

Corporate greed figures into it, too.
      3. GoldLeader

For example, with let's say a tax windfall,  they could help their workers or the consumer,  or do stock buybacks...Now I'm all for helping the company and the Market,  but they could Also help their workers.   (Most that did help their workers...Did it almost as a PR Stunt,  Not because it was the right thing to do)...
      4. Zoyous

And here I was thinking it was greedy C-suite executives and investors who want a magically endless increase in profit. Now I know it's the outrageous wealth of the pimply-faced teenager at the cash register trying to piece together three part time jobs and no healthcare!

    • Hi everyone,   I have a technical question regarding IntyBasic SCROLL function, especially the "move_screen" parameter. Let's take for example a vertical scrolling upwards (SCROLL, 0,0,3)   If I understood correctly, to perform the "8 pixel scrolling up", the engine will copy the contents of the first 11 rows of the screen one row below. Thus it moves them downward 8 pixels, forever erasing the 12th row in the process. But while doing so, it also automatically "duplicates" the top row. As a result, now both ROW #0 and ROW #1 holds the same graphical contents on screen.   My goal is to have the top row to be fully blank right after a vertical scrolling, to appear as "new content" instead of duplicated one. (my game feature a scrolling sky with clouds randomly generated from time to time each time such an 8 pixel scrolling is performed)   I've figured out that you can SCREEN or PRINT a row of "empty tiles" to clear this top row.   But the issue is that you can't seem to perform both the SCROLL and the "SCREEN / PRINT" statement during the same frame update. For the effect to work, you need to first "SCROLL", then WAIT (for next VBLANK) and then you can use SCREEN/PRINT to cleat the top row. The issue is that you can then see the top row "blinking" (first showing duplicated content, then being cleared) for a brief moment, but it's still noticeable. I know that people usually enable a top border mask to "hide" the resulting graphical glitch. The scrolling example provided with IntyBASIC works this way too.   In my case, I'd like to use the full 96 pixels of vertical screen and avoid using the top border mask (unless there is a way to draw sprites OVER the border mask?).   Would you know how to modify the "SCROLL" function to automatically clear the TOP row when scrolling upward (SCROLL, 0,0,3)? (@pinging @nanochess who wrote this function commented as a "complex routine" )   I guess the only way would be to alter the epilogue asm file (I guess around line 458 of "Frame Scroll Support"), but I don't have the required assembly knowledge to do that.   Thanks for your help !
    • The channels are all there (there's one channel - if you hear anything, it's there).   That is a cool sound, yes.    It sounds different because it was changing too fast to be reproduced with 60hz playback, which is what I export. It's true that a VGM can have finer resolution, but that wasn't something I was after (nor do I offer a way to play it, or even convert it.)   I played with this one a bit, it's largely in that retrigger that the coolness seems to come. But the exact values in there are aliasing with the 60hz sample rate, and that's why you get the different output.   We could output it as a sample instead (at 11k is probably the max frequency we can get away with), but it would take a lot of memory (up to 33k/second at 11khz for frequency and volume) and consume full CPU to play. Since we have to change both, might even be restricted to the 6khz output, but that's still up to 18k/second. Could fiddle with slower rates and try to find a middle ground, but, that's not really what this is for. It's just a quick hack of a cool tool that originally output a wave file for modern retro games. I didn't dig deep enough into it to see how to restrict it solely to legal sounds, it was faster to just try them.   I know that's disappointing.
    • Fairly rare, last recorded sale on PC is over a year ago.  What is it worth to you, it might help motivate someone like me to look for it. LOL
    • Are there any functional differences between these two ICs? I for a couple of ICs labeled AY -3-8900-1A with the intent to repair an original faulty Intellivision. When I use these ICs on the console it boots and loads the cartridge but the background is missing and some graphical elements are missing two. Besides that, games are working... I can see bullets and crosshair moving around (Using Atlantis for testing) as well as enemy ships.    I am wondering if these ICs with an A at the end are functionally equivalent to those without the A. When an AY-3-8900-1 working IC (from another Intellivision) is used, the console works just fine.   Thank you for any insight into this.
    • I forgot to add the Amico controller.
    • At least @Tommy Tallarico is consistent at being wrong. He left off a one for Switch and added a 1 for how much investors will get back.
    • The only ones whom really want one of those Amico thingies are Dark Helmet and the Assholes of Spaceball I to practice their firing skills on Demon Attack and others.
    • Would a multibin cue file reconstitute the markers or are they all over the place? (I would assume there’s one per track no?)   I tried the orig WTR cd that I converted on my real JagCD and had no issue (no locking), it could still a bad capture given the Atari CD format, so we know my Jag with my JagCD and copy of WTR (it’s some burn from Etsy) works fine (bar using the “right” power brick with the JagCD but that’s another issue).
    • See, that's the thing: I really have no problem with penny stocks, or people investing in them.   What I dislike are disingenuous attempts at making them appear to have more worth than they actually do so that others buy into them, thus creating the pump in value before selling the stocks and screwing over everyone who didn't get in soon enough.  The mentality's not dissimilar to the MLM 'get in on the ground floor' thought process that runs through those schemes.
