So I decided to take the plunge and give new atari a chance.  I like the Retro Products.  Good on them.  I went to the website, signed up,  got the code (15% off - ALLEGEDLY)...I put 11 Items in my "Bag",  which I assume is a Shopping Cart, and there's no way to CHECK OUT!

The "Bag" doesn't scroll (mouse or arrows) and only shows the top 3 products...I can't even see my total!   If there's a way to check out I can't find it.  I've been all over that website!  I contacted them so we'll see what they say.

ATM I guess "Atari" doesn't want my money.

I don't celebrate until the 25th,  which is the Actual release date...But if you want to celebrate early with all the poseurs on this made up, cash grab, cutesy (May the 4th be with you oh) "holiday"...I mean I was 9 years old,  I remember Watergate and end of the Vietnam War and where cinema fit into the geoandsociopoliticallandscape (As I used to call it)...I knew a seachange paradigm shift in Entertainment was on the horizon when I saw it...No need to celebrate early to placate corporate America

I mean,...When I first saw Star Wars,  I felt like it gave everyone something to believe in,..It was a new hope ...    (uhhhh)

    • Okay, so I've gotta know... why do Asteroids clones on the ColecoVision look so... stiff? Ships don't rotate smoothly and have an annoying habit of stopping on a dime, ignoring the principles of physics. Why is that? Is it because the machine is so dependent on tiles? Ships in Atari 5200 games drift effortlessly through the void of space. Ships in ColecoVision seem to jutter into place. It's really jarring and takes you out of the experience.
    • I recorded a video of what happens on my setup. I tried the windowed mode and it just exits no picture at all. Haven't tried the video options yet. The way it behaves I can't click on anything but exit as the mouse seems to act weird along with the video redrawing.   I am using windows 10 with a Intel graphics card. On my windows 11 system with the Nvidia gpu mame never starts at all, don't see any window or screen.   I am also running the mame folder via my NAS drive which is case sensitive in filenames as well not sure if that is an issue. I could try copying the name folder to a actual windows drive and see if that helps. media_20240504_185028_8879136057097662206.mp4
    • Here's a decent buy on a Navarone cartridge expander on Ebay. https://www.ebay.com/itm/296403866750?itmmeta=01HX2X7P8B713SCTV5YDYD2RC2&hash=item45030c147e:g:4psAAOSwu5dmMqft&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAAwJ%2FulUDGjRzzeH9gul2Q%2FfTYAfUPO51sHdjFo0VAW2C1s51VAcnPjWxLcl0AmAv5VZAIHuvOgdqhgXkgJLl0xbowJNTcv8JWEYvrEQM88xw4l5Ox0s7l%2B8hDxmNIlxi8cIMT%2Bmz90KL4BIVXQUyCcMlnD0TvVTHsaXAg9D%2BelNBg6UPJyezgL%2F%2BLLgjSivbLH7%2Foxlog0ceR6orK7Sell%2BxN6ImPy0BEZsaxXOONX5Yfpzh8uuRvlCAyUVgC9s3HXw%3D%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR7Dknt3oYw
    • Re-ordered another as I await a response for the return/refund. Meantime, checking out the project + schematics, and looking at the (NES-ended) cables, there's a console-specific board at the 25din connector and controller port wires soldered there (some IC, a few resistors etc). So there's no simple DIY to convert these NES cables to Sega/Atari, bummer.  As I wait for another try at the (2nd order) BlueRetro, I guess maybe trying out the Edladdin adapter might be the only potential way left to get bluetooth controllers, *if* it works w/my sample of 8bitdo Retro dongle. I'm dubious to shell out another $30 USD just on the chance it does or doesn't.    Any other confirmed dongles/projects that allow BT/Wireless w/the 800XL (that doesn't use 8bitdo's dongle)? Yeesh.
    • I have been trying to compile MDOS with "MAKE MDOS,F" (both using Beery's TIFILES archive and importing the regular source with the updated TIimagetool) but I am getting lots of errors (see attached). The linking error at the end relates to this section in MDOSL:   PAGES ,P_VID1,P_VID2,P_VID3 CLEAR BLOCK >2000,>8000 ADD OBJ\XOPS-G ST * EVAL VIDEND   I guess it's not surprising that linking doesn't work with several missing object files. I think I also spotted "out of memory" during assembly.   What am I doing wrong 🙂?
    • If a controller can be plugged and works with any game, then CVBasic won't have any problem using it.
    • Small request also  - Rambo memory compatibility?     Even on Altirra this crashes with this popular memory upgrade.
    • Hmm. Never thought of that before with the Geneve forcing to VDP bank 0. Plus back when I owned a working geneve and was testing software on it, was during the days of pre M-Dos with the GPL mode as system/sys plus I wrote my own custom direct to timode no M-DOS boot up as well. Never used the amazing newer more complete M-Dos system, only for a tiny bit used one of the first just before pre 1.x M-Dos which was still very basic.   As for lou picture screwing up yes now the VDP pab and data transfer gets in the way. So cpu transfer would be needed which I don't think sadly the /4a mode in Geneve supports.   Time I guess to fix up some of the leftover GPL timode problems. But of course having this app as native M-Dos program is better.
    • Just for the records. Here are the current HTTP headers.   The response for a directory listing needs to be HTTP/1.0, so it doesn't gets chunked by intermediate caches/proxies and it needs a Content-Length header (which is mandatory for a HTTP/1.0 response) to be parsed by the PlusCart. HTTP/1.0 200 OK Content-Length: 3126 Vary: Accept-Encoding Connection: close Content-Type: text/html; charset=UTF-8     The response for a partial file request by the PlusCart needs to be a "HTTP/1.1 206 Partial Content". The Connection must be Keep-Alive and the timeout should be at least 15 seconds. HTTP/1.1 206 Partial Content Connection: Keep-Alive Keep-Alive: timeout=15 Content-Type: application/octet-stream Accept-Ranges: bytes Expires: 0 Cache-Control: must-revalidate Pragma: public Content-Description: File Transfer Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="penultdemo-NTSC-20.bin" Content-Range: bytes 0-32767/131072 Content-Length: 32768
