I finished uploading my August 2022 gaming videos playlist. That month I played a lot of Sonic. First, taking up the most videos I finished up my first playthrough of the launch version of Sonic Origins, then played the Sonic Triple Trouble 16-bit fan game and Esrael's then-current version of his Sonic Delta Reloaded hack, plus I started the Donkey Kong Country: The Trilogy fan game and made more progress in Pokemon Yellow.

Why did Johnny Rotten and Bananarama never go on tour together?  They could have called it - the Rotten Banana Tour!
      1. aeberbach

Banarama probably had too much artistic integrity to work with him...
      2. John Stamos Mullet

Because Bananarama only went on one proper world tour for 6 months at the beginning of 1989 ending in May 1989, and didn't tour again until 1999/2000's. Johnny Rotten was in studio recording PIL's album until October 1989.

    • Great idea to use a thermal camera. You may well have found the problem, but I do not have personal experience of this issue so I unfortunately cannot answer your question regarding U64 and the empty bank.   Try the people at https://www.atari-forum.com/. They may have a resolution. I would also say try Exxosforum but I am having certificate issues at this time.   Regarding spare M511000A RAM chips, I can only suggest eBay as other vendors do not seem to stock them due to obsolescence.   As to hard disk drives, you may not be able to have both a @masteries ACSI drive and a Megafile 30 connected at the same time, besides which 30MB is tiny these days, and Megafile hard drives are liable to fail at any time due to age. Plus the old RLL hard drives in a Megafile pre-date even SCSI hard drives.   Personally I am hoping that the SidecarT hard disk emulation will evolve into a permanent solution as it eliminates any DMA problems associated with ACSI.
    • I'm 57 and didn't even know there was a crash until decades later as I'd already moved onto computers with a VIC 20 in 1981, and a C=64 a couple years later.  Likewise most of my friends had moved onto various computers (Apple, Atari, C=, TRS-80, and even an IBM*), and the consoles like 2600 had become "toys" relegated to our younger siblings.   At PRGE 2017 Tim Lapetino hosted a panel I was on with Al, John, and Howard Scott Warshaw. Beforehand John commented to Howard on his fond memories of playing Howard's games (Yars, Raiders, & ET) back in the day - I didn't have those memories, as those games came out in 82, though my younger brother does.   * his mom worked for IBM, so had a nice employee discount
    • As an arcade guy, I'd like to note that there was an arcade crash around '99~2004, but it did bounce back. There are 19 games already released this year (21 if you count what I call "videmption"), with many more to come including a new spiritual successor to NBA Jam here in the next few weeks  (I have more info on that game than I was allowed to publish...it's going to be pretty rad)   I know that 19ish games over 5 months is nothing compared to what happens on PC/consoles, but these games can cost anywhere from $4000-$50,000, so it's not apples to apples to compare on a pure numbers basis. 82-83 did see somewhere around 300 games launched per year, but you remove all the bootlegs and Galaxian/Pac-Man clones, it was a much smaller number.
    • Never was released. Interesting read here on kee games   https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kee_Games
    • @Yautja maybe it would be a good idea to update this topic's title at this point - firstly, there is no mention there of which game it is, secondly, the game has been out for several weeks now  Or at least adding some tags for this topic would be useful.

    • When purchasing CIBs from BITD, I always tried to look for a decent box, manual etc. Fortunately, I purchased most of the CIBs that I wanted long ago and these days it’s mainly homebrews. Great thing about the AA homebrews is the quality of the packaging, including cart label, manual and or poster.  My Super Breakout box is pretty good and my Combat Gatefold box is really good. Someone took great care of that one. Btw, the Super Breakout artwork is one of my favorites by Cliff Spohn. The Combat and Air-Sea Battle artwork is also his. IIRC, his artwork is on 20 Atari games. Check out the Art of Atari. They have an excellent review of his work. I have the hardcover version of the book. It’s a really good book.
    • Yeah I have this game and tbh I loaded it up to check that it worked, and um that was it. I had no idea what was going on so I turned it off and thought to myself, not a quick blast game this one, I need the manual.
    • Well this is a fun little game. Not much to look at, but a lot of fun to play with. The dynamic of needing to fix ropes to progress is a really interesting one, and would probably have been pretty novel at the time. I can't say I've ever played the arcade game (which can sometimes help with 2600 conversions  ), but taken on it's own merits, I really like this one.    As for play and replay, I can't belive I did this, but I played river patrol again. Like, voluntarily.  . . .with nobody holding a gun to my head (which was pretty much the criteria I thought would be needed for me to play that steaming pile of poo of a game again). My logic was that I'd spent a fair bit of time on all the games I actually liked, so I'd need to play something I didn't take to if I wanted an improved score quickly.   And it worked, I got the imporvemnt I needed on my third game, which was three more games of River Patrol than I would actually want to play. I could have got a better score easily enough with a bit more care, but that would have meant playing River Patrol for longer which was an outcome I was keen to avoid 🤣   Anyway, that's enough from me, here are some scores.
