Miniature Golf picture label

minigolf.jpgI've just submitted a scan of the picture label variant of Miniature Golf. Knowing Atari titles such as this are well documented by now I was quite surprised to see this label missing from the database. Same art as the box, so no major surprise. It's posted on the right for your enjoyment. Is it rare, or has it just been overlooked until now?

Yes, it's PAL, but it's not HES or anything silly.

I think it's quite rare and only exists in PAL format (and maybe only sold in Australia?). Someone actually sent one to us before but I have to admit I forgot about it. We'll get this added to the db. If it does exist in NTSC, it's probably even rarer. Thanks!

Hey Alex,

Did you get my morning's submissions okay? I hope 300 DPI JPGs are just the right balance of quality and size.

Between this batch and the lot I sent last week I've pretty much gone through all the boxes I have that the database doesn't. I'll have a double-check through my carts next weekend.

Hopefully I'll find some more interesting stuff next weekend. (Big, highly publisised swap-meet next Sunday. It's where I got my 7800.)

Alright, as cheesy as this sounds - I'd love to get one of these! We couldn't afford too many carts when I was a kid, so I spent hours on this and Adventure. Always trying for that "perfect" game. Hasn't happened yet - tho' I did get a hole in one on course 9 a while back. THAT was awesome!

I'm not above selling this and I have a PayPal account.

It comes with a mildly beat-up box, but no instructions.

If a fair price can be determined I'm probably interested, so long as it's going to a good home :). Anyone got a JerryG guide handy? (Mine's at home.) What does "quite rare" go for these days?

(Actually, I didn't post that with the idea of getting you to sell it to me - but since that can of worms is now open...)

I'd have absolutely NO idea what a fair price would be for it. Hopefully someone will give some feedback on that - drop me an email sometime - maybe we can figure out a fair price.

TANKS!

I don't see it in JerryG's guide.

Keep in mind this is essentially a label variation, so you probably won't get the same price as an equally rare, but unique title. It's one of those things where you could put it on eBay and you might get $100, or you might get $1.

And I didn't mean for this to turn into free advertising, but as you say...

That's cool. Can anyone think of similarly rare label variations that I can lookup for relative pricing when I get home?

Are the red label variations of common titles like Centipede similar in relative rarity? I get the feeling that most of the red label variants would be considered more common than this particular picture label.

What does a, say, red label PAL Pole Position go for?

This is not posted simply to advertise a sale, I'm posting to see what other people think of my logic.

Okay, I hit my JerryG last night and came up with the following (all prices US$):

Normal Miniature Golf - $15

Miniature Prototype - $85

So obviously, it's between $15 and $85.

Unimax Mini-Golf - $75

Sears (with no © )- $30

I'd like to think that it would be somewhere between these two too.

Then, if I look at the PAL red labels, a game valued at $3-$6 in its most common variant is valued at $25 for the red label version. A game with a $5 or $10 cheapest version is a $35 red label.

Using the same ratio, this Miniature Golf variant should be priced at $50 to $65. Based on JerryG prices.

Meanwhile, JerryG claims that a Super Hit Pak is worth US$85. If anyone's willing to pay that I can have mine in the post by the weekend :) What do people think of the JerryG prices, on the whole?

I'm going to start a thread in the Marketplace forum and see if people agree...

JerryG used to own and operate Atari2600.com (he has since sold it). He was also a large dealer of Atari merchandise, and recently published a collectors guide covering many systems. He includes prices in the guide, but I think they're basically what he used to charge for his merch, and also on the high side ($15 for mini golf is a good example).

He's also a nice guy who has helped us out in the past with information and scans. :)
