Recycled
2,190 Kudos to Parker Brothers for this translation. Who needs the arcade(or the "better" 2600 version) when we have this?
godzillajoe
3,446 A few more tips Forget about the lady frog and the flies and get that froggie into the first "home" right away, it takes all the pressure off. Then you can screw around a bit and go for points without panicing to get him in there with no open bays as a plan b and time running out Watch the snake on the log and only ride that log when he's off, it's clear every second pass, you don't wanna get stuck on it if some turtles you were hoping to catch suddenly submerge Follow deteatcher's advice! It takes two seconds to size up the situation. "OK blue turtles on their way down, croc's back" or "blue turtles coming up, use the log" etc. Edited September 3, 2007 by godzillajoe
Captain Beard
3448 My tip: Screw the lady and the bug - go for speed. As you can see, my score increased by over 1000 points once I stopped dicking around waiting for other bonuses.

godzillajoe
I keep getting stuck at that same screen where the first two rows are 3x3 cars, haven't figured out the timing yet, I panic and most of the time smash into them instead of the other way around. Need to crack 4,000!

+Nathan Strum
What? Was my arty shot too much for you? Well, my last score was on an emulator. Ze_ro
Well, that's the end of this week, as well as the end of the 4th season of the High Score Club! I hope everyone had fun! I'm absolutely exhausted from work, but when I get some time, I'll put together the final scores as well as some other interesting info about Season 4. As for Season 5, it'll start some time next week... though I'm almost certainly going to change the start/end of the week, so until then, give your trigger finger a rest! --Zero
Captain Beard
I just wanted to say thanks to Ze_ro for hosting the HSC. I know it must be a lot of work and I really appreciate the effort! I'm looking forward to a brand-new season! Thanks again!
+Nathan Strum
I'll echo that - thanks Ze_ro! This was my first season with the HSC, and it was a lot of fun (my favorite week was Ice Hockey).
Ze_ro
Alright, I promised some interesting statistics, but I lied... they're not really interesting at all The final standings from Season 4 are as follows: Rom Hunter [597] Deteacher [486] SpiceWare [475] Nathan Strum [276] LarcenTyler [235] rheffera [221] vdub_bobby [185] keilbaca [175] Goochman [170] johnnywc [167] toymailman [133] Captain Beard [131] scogey [122] The MindMaster [115] the 5th ghost [111] Cybergoth [94] Recycled [93] shadow460 [92] atari2600land [88] JacobZu7zu7 [80] BrianC [78] Christophero Sly [74] godzillajoe [73] shawnb [71] Malc74 [67] Zoyx [66] theKLT [59] Nognir [41] SeaGtGruff [36] Impaler_26 [36] Crazy Climber [36] RaRoss [35] doctorclu [35] 128bytes [34] ewing92 [32] Jred [26] RJ [24] phaxda [21] keitaro [21] Lord Helmet [19] Thomas Jentzsch [17] Krytol [17] mojofltr [17] Mindcircus [16] Random Terrain [15] Lord Thag [15] LS_Dracon [13] JimboGames [12] midnight magicman [12] rjchamp3 [11] ResOGlas [11] Shannon [11] Omegamatrix [10] accousticguitar [10] jonfin826 [10] MickG [9] Gabriel [8] Zeptari1 [7] gospeedde [7] Hiryu [7] homerwannabee [7] Shroo-man [6] BSA Starfire's girlfriend [6] supercat [5] GamerInThailand [5] codyr783 [5] fire!fire! [5] madbutscher [4] oldric [3] Biter [2] mightymage [2] aofl [2] D. Yancey [2] Dan Iacovelli [1] Artlover [1] Blackjack [1] Ironman awards go to: SpiceWare (Played 65 out of 70 games) Rom Hunter (Played 62 out of 70 games) LarcenTyler (Played 61 out of 70 games) The most popular games were: (Average was 11.2 players per game) Dodge 'Em (19 Players) Freeway, Frogger (16 Players) Polaris, Ice Hockey, Solar Fox, Conquest of Mars (15 Players) The least popular games were: Shuttle Orbiter (5 Players) Air Raid, Phaser Patrol, Porky's, Mr Postman (6 Players) E.T. If you consider this as a potential maximum, then: Rom Hunter scored 57.902% of the max SpiceWare scored 41.071% of the max Deteacher scored 33.663% of the max (FYI, when it came to games that didn't deal in scores, liked Barnstorming (timed) or Phaser Patrol (just gives you a rank), I cheated and made up point values that seemed fair to me. Doing anything else would have been a total pain to work into a spreadsheet.) Also, in case you're interested in how I kept track of things, or you want the raw data for whatever reason, I've attached a spreadsheet with all the data from this entire season. I use a Linux-based spreadsheet program called Gnumeric, but the archive also has an Excel version that I exported from my original file. For some reason, when I exported it, it lost the comments I had added to explain where I came up with scores for the non-scoring games I mentioned, otherwise it seems to be intact. --Zero hsc4.zip
Rom Hunter
It has been an honour and great fun too, Ze_ro. Many thanks to you for maintaining everything and many thanks to the other players for keeping the VCS gaming spirit alive. Deteacher
I'll reiterate what everyone else is saying! Thank you Ze_ro for all your hard work! I jumped in around week 12 or so. I look forward to season 5. I want to give Rom Hunter a run for his money. Again, thank you for a fantastic season. It was a lot of fun! toymailman
Same goes for me too. You did an awesome job Ze_ro and I really appreciate it! I enjoy collecting for the 2600 system, but I also like playing them. The HSC is great and I always look forward to the next game. I came in really late on the season (Fast Food), but never missed a week since. I'm excited about Season 5. Any thoughts on how long it will be? One suggestion I have is to make it truly seasonal (ie. Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall) ~ 3 months each. This way the season is limited in length, everyone knows when it starts and stops, others can join in on a fresh season relatively soon. Fall = September, October, November Winter = December, January, February Spring = March, April, May Summer = June, July, August As we are into "Fall" already, Season 5 could be a long Winter or short Fall season. Anyway, this is just a suggestion (please ignore at will). I will enjoy the HSC in whatever incarnation it takes on.
Captain Beard
As we are into "Fall" already... I like your season idea, but if instead of forcing the calendar to match our whims we simply follow the calendar, Fall has yet to begin. It "officially" starts on the equinox (assuming you're playing in the Northern Hemisphere, that is) although my calendar and wikipedia disagree over when, exactly, that is (my calendar says the 23rd, wikipedia says the 22nd.) Either way, we've got until next weekend.
