WANTED: Sega Nomad

I have had one for about five years now, but during my recent move something must have HAPPENED...the SCREEN now has a thick black band of dead pixels accross the center, making it pretty much unplayable. This is one of my all time FAVORITE handhelds, and I would give just about a LIMB to replace it. Im not after one in "mint" shape, hell no, scratches and imperfections are FINE...Im gonna be playin the hell out of it anyhow, so..

 

If you have one to swap/sell, Id tend to be VERY generous...I miss my Nomad!! ...sniff sniff...honk...

Have you tried reseating the cable that connects LED to the main board? Some LCD have the cable simply glued on at the LCD side so it might have come loose.

Im sorry but I dont know what that means...I know as much of electronics as I do of neurosurgery.

Any "tutorials" anywhere?? I see a few Nomads on E-Bay regularly, but yikes..not paying THOSE prices for a 15 year old handheld. My girl misses it more than I do I think..she nearly wept when she saw the screen..

As to my (seemingly?) desecrated Nomad here, are there any techie-type folks here that might be able to have a whack at it? For all I know its a stupid ten second fix, then again it could be "dead"...I just dont have the skill to know.

 

If someone wanted to have a go at repairing it, or, I dunno, using the 'guts' for other things, let me know..I wouldnt want much for it..maybe a couple common Lynx/Genesis games..
