Mister VCS
Is it possible to program games for the Compumate and use the expanded memory? I think it is a job for Thomas Jentzsch! I know, that we need a second cartridge slot and joystick ports. It would be a hard work.
Eckhard Stolberg
The Compumate has 2K RAM and 16K ROM. The bankswitching and RAM enable/disable is done through the joystick port. It might be possible to replace the ROM chip with one that contains your own code, but you'd need the keyboard to be plugged into the ports and connected to the cartridge for the program to work at all. jahfish
that might be another job for the footpedal again ... since you can connect it in between ... so it could only be a game that you can play with your foot and two or 3 controls....

Eckhard Stolberg
The CompuMate paint program allows you to have a small six images slide show. If the speed is set fast enough, this could even be used for small animations. Since the tape is called PictureMate and has an animal theme, I suppose it's just a collection of animal pictures for the low-res paint program. The BASIC mode only allows a maximum of 99 lines of code, and you only can use the flickery text mode for display. So unless Spectravision is hiding a special "load and execute" mode for machine language programs on tape in the CompuMate ROM, I don't think that useful application programs are possible for this device.
