Ze_ro
Important Note: This week's competition is over and no further scores will be accepted. Ixion was the son the Phlegyas, descendent of Ares, and king of the Lapiths in Thessaly. He is also the first mortal to shed kindred blood. To punish him, Zeus bound Ixion to a winged wheel, which revolved in the air in all directions for all eternity. You are Ixions son, determined to release him from his bondage. In order to do so, you must acquire five runes that spell out your fathers name. Zeus's minions will do anything to stop you, but you have your fathers winged wheel to help you accomplish your task! Extra lives are awarded every 100,000 points. Normal RoundsI: 1000 X: 2000 I: 3000 O: 4000 N: 5000 Kill an enemy: 200 Bonus points are awarded based on time remaining at the end of a level. Bonus RoundsActivate a square: 50 Activate all but 1-6 of the squares: 10,000 Activate all the squares: 15,000 Thanks to aftermac for figuring out the scoring! Hints and Tips The ManualSince this game is an unreleased prototype, no manual is known to exist, so you're on your own! However, if you can't figure out what's going on in this game, I suggest you check out Ixion at AtariProtos, which gives a good rundown of how to play.aftermac Tip: Be very precise with your movements. If there is any diagonal movement, your player will not move at all. This can be a problem in tight spots.Tip: When you are shooting at the ball things try to line up your shots like you would in pool. This game does a great job at detecting angles. You can shoot diagonally and move your player to line up the "holes". This is especially useful in the bonus rounds.Kurt_Woloch- Bouncing around the "balls" isn't exactly like in Pool. It seems like the ball takes on the trajectory of the shot it gets hit by. Note that it can also get hit by the enemies' shots, which also causes it to start bouncing around.- Rolling the ball by bumping into it always causes a horizontal or vertical motion (depending on how the player moves). Shooting it may result in horizontal, vertical or diagonal motion. However, shooting it with diagonal shots always results in diagonal motion, because when shooting diagonally, no horizontally moving shots are created.- Shooting the ball diagonally should be preferred, since by bouncing around diagonally, the ball covers much more ground and thus makes the playfield much more open.- The highest priority for the player should be to avoid the enemies' shots, because that's the only thing that's deadly.- Running out of time actually doesn't seem to result in losing a life, rather you warp up to the next level, but with the letters you already had remaining. However, in the level you warped to, each letter you collect in this level is worth 1000 points less than it originally was.DeteacherThe only other tip I can come up with is to learn to clear the bonus boards. Those extra 5K bonuses really add up in the long run. --Zero

Impaler_26
This game is not bad and it seems it was programmed by the same guy who did Thunderground... Let me start this week off with my first entry: 258,950.

aftermac
Here's what I've come up with for scoring, so far: You start the game with 6 lives. Extra lives are awarded every 100,000 points. Normal Rounds I: 1000 X: 2000 I: 3000 O: 4000 N: 5000 Kill an enemy: 200 Bonus points are awarded based on time remaining at the end of a level. Bonus Rounds Activate a square: 50 Activate all but 1-6 of the squares: 10,000 (yes, I tested this the hard way) Activate all the squares: 15,000 Hopefully, all of these are correct. The scoring is a bit more complicated than "1 point for falling through a hole". Edited May 14, 2008 by aftermac

I love this title and I'd be psuched to play this on real hardware. Ok, this looks better... 338,700 If I could only clear those square levels... I only managed to do it once or twice. Very fast and furious action! Great AI too! Edited May 15, 2008 by tremoloman2006

Thomas Jentzsch
Why isn't this on a cart for sale...? Since the game is a bit too easy, I created a (much) harder version called ATRIX which was sold at NWCGE in 2006.
darthkur
411,650 This game definitely have the ability to fray the nerves when things start to move a lot faster. Does anyone else experience sluggish response in the control of your ship? Sometimes it just seems like it won't move when I want it to or it will even go in the wrong direction at times. Of coarse it very well might be the cheep microsoft flightstick controller I'm using. I desperately need to get one of those Stelladaptors. Right now I've got my hands full with it.

Sometimes my ship just won't move when i press in a direction, this is annoying especially in the later rounds when the action gets real fast! I also thought it was my cheap joypad first...
