Ze_ro
Important Note: This week's competition is over and no further scores will be accepted. Ah, the life of a frog! You've found yourself a nice lilly pad, and it's time to eat. But what the... who's this other frog?? What does he think he's doing trying to horn in on your meal?! In case you don't have the manual, AtariAge has a typed copy available online. Here are the tips it provides: Don't fall in the pond! Your frog will be out of business. You'll have to wait until he swims back to the pad before you can try for another score. Watch the time. Game time is three minutes. Watch for the changing sky - from daylight to sunset and darkness. Change to black of night means scoring time is running out! DeteacherMy tip is to master one type/angle jump and position yourself where you can consistantly make that jump without falling into the water. Then, wait for the flies to come to you and time your jumps right. Don't chase the flies all over the place. You'll only end up wet and frustrated. --Zero
Mister VCS
28-8 some nice effects, but the control is difficult and the gameplay is rather boring... My HSC-wishlist: Fatal Run, River Raid II, Buck Rogers, Rampage, Defender, Pac-Man, Beamrider and Ikari Warriors

Captain Beard
44-14 I've always liked this game, but it's definitely more fun with two players.
Kurt_Woloch
OK, here's my best score so far... 34-24. This game seems to be similar to "Basketball" and "Fishing Derby" which we played earlier in some respects... the 2-digit scoring, and that it's actually a two-player game, and a timed one. Deteacher
New High Score and better scoring differential: 60-16. Edited July 31, 2008 by Deteacher
Captain Beard
Just curious: Is the scoring differential of any value in this week's competition? Bonus points? Unlike Basketball, where the computer matches your skill roughly, the AI in this game blows (and gives you a 15-second head start, no less) and it's not as much of a back-and-forth as Basketball and Fishing Derby are (both players can actually score simultaneously) so I'm not sure it really makes sense, but I don't much mind either way. Just putting the question out there. Zero?

So, maybe the scoring differential is kind of a moot point.
aftermac
46-18 I seem to remember this being more fun when I was a kid... of course that was in 2 player mode. The game is ok, but it would be more interesting if licking the other frog changed the color pallet to psychedelic colors.

Hmm.... this just gave me the idea for a hack... forget about the flies and make licking the other frog the goal of the game. The title could be "Frog Lickfest".. Captain Beard
Why the heck have I been getting worse at this game all week? I grew up with an Intellivision and I remember playing this one (well, Frog Bog, anyway) a lot. And I was AWESOME at it. I'll never cease to be amazed at the things I could do better when I was 11 vs. 36...

toymailman
Missed the deadline, but that's okay. The score didn't improve anyway, just the differential, 60 points! 68-

Ugh, sorry I didn't get a chance to reply to this sooner... things are scored by total points first, and then by point differential, just like for Basketball. I didn't think there was much point in awarding extra for largest differential because the way the game works, getting the highest score should also give you the highest differential (you have no way of affecting the other frog). And it's mentioned in the game modes that you should allow the computer to play against you. --Zero
