Kamshaft
I didn't see any Jumpman Junior or Frogger labels, so I decide to make one. Started with a repro of Frogger, but plan to make customs of both. Here's a low res (I wouldn't use this) sample to start. I'll post a higher res version once people like it or hate it. LOL Edited October 18, 2013 by Kamshaft

Kamshaft
Good job! Thanks! I think I'm going to try a custom Jumpman Junior label, since the stock one sucks, it's just text.
Kamshaft
Here's my first kick at the custom label can! Jumpman Junior. What do you guys think?
Kamshaft
The above contain the high resolution versions of Frogger, enjoy!
Pixelboy
Here's my first kick at the custom label can! Jumpman Junior. What do you guys think? Well, it looks very nice, but the small print at the bottom is going to be microscopic (and therefore unreadable) once it's printed at the required scale. Kamshaft
What font point size would you recommend? I've increased it now by one point size. From 3pt to 4pt. It's a bit better, but the reality is a lot of the copyrights on those labels were pretty small. Especially the Parker Brothers labels. Pixelboy
What font point size would you recommend? Make the text three times as big as it is now, and it should come out alright on an actual sticker.
+pboland
Looks good Kamshaft. I do agree with Pixelboy. You will need to make the font a little larger. If you are printing them yourself, I would do some test prints to see what size text is best for reading. The reason for that is, it depends on your printer and the label stock you use. That will all make a difference as to the legibility of the text. Edited October 19, 2013 by pboland

Thanks for the feedback guys, I'm almost thinking of ditching the copyright text altogether (since it's a custom label anyways) or removing the "jumper" image, and just keeping the logo instead. Otherwise, everything will just look crammed and busy on such a small label. Thoughts?
Kamshaft
Here's a more traditional label, nothing fancy. Looks more authentic.
Pixelboy
The copyright text needs to be a little bigger still, in my humble opinion.

Kamshaft
Alright attempt number...whatever. LOL I've also determined for future graphic designers as myself, the copyright font is 6 points in size, with the leading being 6 points also. Kamshaft
Ah, now that's more like it! Thanks! Not sure why they printed the copyright text that big to begin with! LOL
Pixelboy
It may seem big to you, but once you print it out at the proper scale, believe me, it comes out just right.
Kamshaft
I think I'm gonna stick to making custom "Factory Believable" labels. They just look more 80's - ish (If that's even a word) and more authentic looking. From what I've been able to see is that 95% of all Colecovision labels consist of ... Colecovision logo and game logo at the top (Top part of the cart) Nice rounded corner white box. Inside that, the Colecovision Logo, then the JUST a game logo, and barely (if any) any artwork (i.e. characters) A boring (yet authentic) copyright text Simple formula, really. Personally, I like the Parker Borthers, and Atarisoft carts, as far as artwork better.
Kamshaft
Another custom label. I had to do Donkey Kong. I always thought with the original the logo colors were off from the arcade. And since the game shipped with the console, it needed love. Here's my take.
+pboland
I was asked about a handful of other labels I've made that were not posted in this topic, so here they are. Most of these were created for my ColecoVision trading card sets. I believe the "Fall Guy" was a custom.:
mightywiz
so i'm no artist, how about a q*bert label? mine is gone and i'd like to put a new one on it... my wife has a xyron sticker maker, which puts adhesive on the back of the printouts so I can just cut it out and stick it on the cartridge. thanks in advance.... phattyboombatty
Here's a label for Super Action Soccer, using authentic font, style, and layout. I created the SOCCER label with a custom-drawn font that was modeled after the Super Action Football and Super Action Baseball logos. More to come with this game soon!
