+atari2600land
I just got an Intellivision. It works, except for the fact that I can't turn it off. I pressed the ON/OFF button and it turned on, but i tried pressing it again and all it did was reset. Is it broken, and is it ok if I unplug it without turning it off? If yes, hold the button down for 5 seconds. Allan
+atari2600land
That did it. Thank you! I didn't get an instruction manual for the console. I got Frog Bog, Beauty and the Beast, Night Stalker, Astroblast and Tron Deadly Discs, all with controller overlays and instruction manuals. Are these all common? Is there a forum like this one for Intellivision?

As for your other question, a simply Google search turned this up: http://www.intellivisionworld.com/ihq/default.asp Don't know anything else about it. Don't discount AA though. You'll find knowledgeable folks right here for just about every console.

+atari2600land
Here's a question: How do you start Atlantis? I tried pressing every button and nothing seems to work.
Video
Most games you hit 1,2,3,or4 depending on the difficulty you want, then pound or something like that. I may be remembering wrong, as it's been over a decade since I last had mine hooked up

STICH666
That INTV2 reset/on,off switch is the most retarded setup I've ever seen! Why? The PS2 works the exact same way.
+thegoldenband
Ha, I just got an Intellivision II, and had the exact same problem -- "How do I turn this thing off?" This thread answered it for me, so thanks for that. It seems like there are several different competing rarity guides out there for the Inty, and some pretty disparate estimates as to how much particular games are going to go for. In addition to the one posted here, there's the one at Tomorrow's Heroes, as well as the one at Intellivision World which seems to omit certain games...? Rik
That INTV2 reset/on,off switch is the most retarded setup I've ever seen! Why? The PS2 works the exact same way. A stupid design(IMO) is a stupid design regardless of what system utilizes it. :)Just seems so cheap ass.I find it not so efficiant, depress it for even I second too soon, have to press again and again.I'm talking about the INTV 2,man glad I never bought a PS2,bad enough 1 system I own has that crap design.Do you have to wait like the INTV2 with the PS2,when pressing button?.I would gather the PS2 one works better than the INTV2. You hold the button down for 3 seconds on the PS2.

You need an original Intelli. It's my favorite system and I hate the Intelli 2. Get the original, it's worth it and it looks so much better. This is the website you need: http://www.intvfunhouse.com/mattel/ Intelli games usually come with boxes (which come with instructions & overlays) because of their design. Follow the overlay for help with Atlantis-- http://www.intvfunhouse.com/imagic/overlay/atln-000.jpg Don't forget to use the saucer, that is was separates it from Atari. Jess Ragan
That INTV2 reset/on,off switch is the most retarded setup I've ever seen! Why? The PS2 works the exact same way. So do home computers! I'll admit, though, that if it had been any time before 2000, I would have been confused too. I didn't realize that game systems that old were using that design. By the way, how is the Intellivision 2? I've heard some pretty negative stuff from critics, but I like the smaller form factor and less 70's-riffic design. Detachable controllers are also a very good idea, although I'm not aware of any third party sticks for the system aside from ones that snap onto the dial. Rik
IMO,the original INTV looks way better, and better built absolutely!.Then again,i like the external power supply and the detachable controllers,on the INTV2,something i failed to count in.All in all, every system has its good and bad points Edited July 11, 2009 by Rik

Jess Ragan
It's the only way to force a shutdown on frozen PCs, short of unplugging the power supply. It's a neat little design that keeps you from shutting off your machine accidentally. However, I've always preferred buttons that switch on and switch off when you press them, without all that fancy stuff. If you don't know how the more complicated switches work, you feel incredibly lost and frustrated.
Rik
I discovered that some of the original Intellivoices wont fit in the INTV 2 interface. Some of the Intellivoices had protruding screws on the bottom of connector.I have 4 intellivoices,2 have the protruding screws that make a very tight fit,it'll go in but you'll end up scraping the crap out of the bottom of your INTV connection bay.The other 2 intellivoices have the screws countersunk,i use those on my INTV 2. +thegoldenband
Hey, that's a good tip about the protruding vs. countersunk screws. I'm thinking about getting an Intellivoice, and since I have an Intellivision II, I'll be sure to look for the ones without protruding screws. Thanks!
