Tempest
I just picked up some rather rare boxed Intellivision games (River Raid, Super Pro Decathlon, and Pole Position) that appear to be sealed. How can I tell if the shrinkwrap is new or original? If it's original I'll just leave them sealed and sell them, but if it's newly put on I'll open them and keep them for my collection. xg4bx
im no scientist but id judge it by how the shrinkwrap looks. plastic breaks down over time and were talking 25 years so id think if it seemed stiff, scuffed or slightly cloudy/yellowed (like an old comic book storage bag), its original or at least not recent. its hard to say, personally i think id know it if i saw it. It's new. I took a chance and opened them. It sure looked authentic though. Doesn't really matter though, these are going in my personal collection. Video
I actually purchased a couple of Cases of new games (original packing from the manufacture) the games came 6 to a case.....and were NOT shrinkwrapped. Now two cases of different games isn't conclusive I suppose, but I do know Utopia and Astromash were not shrinkwrapped originally. But then again, some retailers may buy fewer than a full case, or if the games were ordered singly maybe the company shrunkwraped them? I can say for sure I bought an authentic shrinkwrapped Astrosmash at an old CGE (1999 maybe?), so it definitely happened.
Video
Probably like I said, if it was to small an order, or odly numbered, the loose ones got shrinkwrapped?

Tempest You got those from Destiny games. They are not factory sealed, Ted seals them himself. I opened a few of them, to know they were not factory because the manuals have tears or the overlay has a wrinkle. So dont get too excited, we can pretend (I wont open up that copy of Congo Bongo)
jeremysart
Im sure some of the games are factory, I know some of the Imagic games I opened looked brand new.. :-/ but quite a few I could tell had been used. You must have passed up the boxed ECS he had up there? It was only $

However I'm 99% sure that the 2600 games I picked up are sealed because one of them had an old style tab hanger on the back. That and the shrinkwrap seemed 'old' and brittle. jeremysart
Its always kick ass to find stuff that is factory sealed, just thinking that its been sitting around unscathed for over 20 years. I still have some sealed "digital data packs" for the Adam lol. I also happened across a sealed copy of Windows 3.1 so I could get my old 286 back on its feet. maximebeauvais
I do remember reading that some intellivision game never had shrinkwrap on them (especially INTV compagny: decatlon, pacman, spiker, stadium...etc)

I purchased Thin Ice brand new and it was not shrinkwrapped.
