Miss 2600
I'm visiting my parents and they still have their old Macintosh Plus they bought in 1989. Maybe the best computer game I've ever played was "Scarab of RA" on a 3.5 floppy disc. I had to make copies of it because I played it so much. It was an old school game with text to tell you what is going on but it also had sound effects. The images were stationary. Even a monkey, lion, or mummy that is supposed to come at you were the same image that got bigger as it moved closer. It also had a map that you could view and see where you've been and areas you have yet to explore. The object was to make your way through the pyramid by finding keys and unlocking doors and eventually come into possession of three objects (Scarab of RA, Crown of RA, and a Scepter of RA). Once you had all three, the next door you use will give you a way out which you could either take or keep playing. One funny and cool thing about the game is, once in a while you'll find a wall with the words "Bank of RA." You could "deposit" the gold you find in the bank to lighten your load. It had a very detailed high score ranking with the amount of gold in the bank listed, the RA treasures possessed, and whether the title you earned (like professor of archeology, etc.) was "posthumous." Anyway, does anyone remember this game?

chesskinge
Does anybody know how I can get a download of the game to play on my MAC POWER PC 8.6? Or even my Macbook Pro which we are downloading it on and trying to transfer over (because the Mac Power doesn't have internet). I can't get it to open without it being treated like a text document or just not being readable.
desiv
What archivers do you have on the powermac? And do you have a program that can fix the file associations on it? I've had those get messed up a lot. As my stuff is all older Mac, I tend to use HFVExplorer to transfer files into a disk image (Macintosh 1.44 format) and it lets me fix those associations. Then I write the image to a USB floppy to use on my Mac. I believe I usually set something to SIT and something else to SITx to get it to be something my archiver will recognize for Stuffit files. Unfortunately I'm not super MacOS aware, so a lot of what I do is trial and error till I get something that works.
