Lendorien's Haphhazard Collection

Well, I decided to join in on the fun and post pics of my collection. Completely revised as of 4/25/2011. I've gained about 150 games since I originally posted. I no longer have a TG16, but I do show the Inty some love now.

I've been collecting about 2 and half years, though I consider myself a hobbyist more than a collector. I'm not a serious collector by any means. I collect what interests me and I intermittently play every system I own. I'm not really interested in owning a bunch of systems that I'd never play, nor do I have the room.

I used to be a PC gamer primarily. I have a decent PC game collection going back to the early 90's. But with PC gaming pretty much being garbage these days, my main focus is now consoles.

So here's my game/living room. I'm running out of storage space and really need to get more shelving, or bigger shelving. I have 12 systems hooked up on two TVs at the moment. One is my LCD, which is running an 8 switch Pelican Gameswitch (thank you Goodwill!) and a bunch of systems on Svideo. The second is a 27" CRT from Goodwill running all the older stuff.

Atari comes first, then the others.

Atari 2600 - My collection, roughly grouped by brand. The Vader has my Joystick Select/Reset mod on it. I also have a Harmony cart I forgot to include in the photos. Gosh I love that thing.

Intellivision - No good games except AD&D. Centipede is just not playable in my opinion. :(

NES - The Wisdom Tree games are almost CIB. And I found them at Goodwill.

N64 - My first console. I barely play it now days. But when I have parties, it's on non-stop.

Gamecube - Yay for the gameboy player!

Sega Genesis - The genesis is modded for Composite and Stereo output. I really need to replace the mainboard though. It was the victum of a botched Svideo mod and the RF doesn't work well on it.

Game Gear - Yes, I did the caps replacement on it.

looks nice lendorien.....you could do with more atari goodness though

all you need to now to to moddy your atari kit for glorious stereo sound, from those nice looking speakers (B&O or Bose)

Well, I'm not up for collecting the computers. Only things left to get are the Jag and Lynx, neither of which hold much interest for me.

Ten points to Gryffindor for the NES cartridge shelf. I could use one of those!

Honestly, that was a lucky find at Goodwill. I saw it there in their random furniture section and thought, "Gee, that looks like games would fit in there perfectly." There's room for 6 boxed games and 36 carts. It looks like it might have been hand made, but it's pretty solid.

nice collection :)

What is the 3do like? I remember when they came out , I wanted one :)

I guess the 3DO is a lot like the PS1, just with less graphics capability. I will say that it has outstanding sound for a console. I used it as a CD player recently and was surprised at how good the sound was. I suppose it's because the 3DO was a top shelf item when it came out.

In terms of games, most of them have been ported to the PS1. I like the system though. I do think the controllers leave a bit to be desired. Street Fighter on the 3DO has better music than even the arcade version, but playing it with those controllers is a bit, well, awful.

Nice collection! I like your game room setup. A nice over sized bean bag chair would finish it off.

I didn't quite have the heart to take a photo of the ugly orange couch that sits across from the TV. There's a recliner, but I rarely use it and the big wooden rocking chair is inappropriate for gaming, though it's awesome for reading in.

I should do a panoramic of my living room. People can gape at my collection of Rex Stout books.

Well, I just updated everything except the NES, which frankly, I'm too lazy to do atm. About 10 more NES games since those photos were taken.

At least if my place burns down I'll have all these photos for insurance purposes.

Hey, looks like a great collection to me. :D What's your favorite console?

That's a hard question. I'm really fond of the 7800 because it plays 2600 and 7800 games (I love the 7800 centipede, even without a trackball). Lately I have been playing quite a bit on my 5200. I really need to get more games for it. For some reason I actually sorta enjoy those dodgy controllers.

I don't collect 2600 games any more though. I have a Harmony cart and not enough room for more carts over the 100 I already own. I'm waiting eagerly for the XM after which I'll probably invest in some homebrew.

If I were to list my favorite consoles overall, I'd say the PS2, NES and 7800 in no particular order. Other than my PS3, those are the ones I play the most.

I have decided I'm a collector because I now own far more games than I will ever be able to play. That said, I do game a fair bit (if not nearly as much as I did in my youth), so it's not liek all that stuff just sits. Some of it does (like the intellivision...), but I play most of what I own during the year.

Very nice stuff and setup. The bobble head in between the plants on top of the television was a nice touch.

He's some former announcer dude for the Milwaukee Admirals. It was a freebee, but I found it amusing to have him coming out of the jungle.
