vespertillio
Hey all, I just got my XE Game Sytem from Ebay and I cant get any video out of it. Does it use a standard RF cable like the 2600, 600XL, 7800 etc? I'm hooking it up to the Television out and have tried both channel selections (H and L whaterver those are). I don't have an Atari Monitor to try out the monitor out. Am I doing something wrong or am I going to have to open it up and look inside? If anyone knows where I can download a manual for this thing I would greatly appreciate link. I've searched for a while but to no avail. Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Goochman
It uses the standard RF cable like a 2600/7800. It runs on Channel 2/3 or 3/4 depending on the select switch on the console. With the RF cable hooked into the TV switchbox you should be good to go.
vespertillio
Arrrghh, that's what I figured. That truly sucks. I was looking forward to playing this. Maybe I can find an Atari video cable and do that S-Video splice thing. I tried it on two working switchboxes and still no go. Very depressing. AtariGuy
If your television has a composite video input, the RCA jack on the back of your XE Game System labeled 'Monitor' is composite out. It gives a much sharper picture than using RF.
Goochman
Did the XEGS come with the monitor ports???? You'll need a different cable for the monitor jack to hook into your TV's composite RCA jacks.
aminerva
Not on the XEGS, the monitor port on the XEGS is an RCA port, not the 5-pin din of the other XE computers. All you'll need is an RCA cable to test it out.
